$290 last month for just under 1700 sq. ft. of near 100 yr. old house with an insulated attic but none in the walls.

Keep thermostat on 75 during the summer months and it does cycle.

$120-150 summer, as little as $27 spring/fall. Gas hot water/stove/heating, $20 summer, $30-50 in winter.

New house, 7 years old. Ridge vent in attic, fiberglass insulation, double glazed windows, led bulbs everywhere. Thermo set at 75, 66-68 in winter (wear a sweater).

Last month was $180 which is includes a $20 bill credit for tax reform. 3500 sqft, Cleco, two thermostats. The house is mostly empty during the day so we keep it at 78, 76 at night. Nest thermostats go into eco mode when no one is home. Overall I don’t think it’s too bad for this sized house.

Wow, I’m not sure if this is deceiving since I also have gas water heaters, cooktops, etc. All LED lighting, two 4T 16 SEER units and a mini-split.

4000 sqft, built in 2018, Demco. $113 bill for July-August. Edit: This was June-July bill (It gets paid in August). July was ~$200.

I’ve been working from home since March. Keep T-stats around 73 during day, 70-71 at night.

Someone is home all the time at my house. I'm retired and home except to run errands and not much else during these crazy times.

The thermostat never leaves 75 unless we are expecting a lot of company----again, not happening right now.

Your bill for that size house is excellent. My house is actually around 3400 sq. ft. but the ground floor is used as my man cave and woodworking shop and we live on the 2nd floor. I run the A/C (window unit) only when I plan on being down there for a while.

5,000 square feet, city utilities: During the summer around 400 to as high as 600. This includes AC in the garage that I use as a workshop and home gym. Avg is around 250 - this includes all utilities on the same bill.

Open cell foam in the walls and R-38 Blown Fiberglass in the ceiling.

I did some more investigating since it seemed off by comparison. Those were payment dates, so that was actually June’s bill. July is around $200.

Based on May-August and being home all day, I’m averaging around $140/month.

About 7500 sqft 80s era house.

Entergy

Winter averages mid 300s to low 400s

Summer averages mid 600s in early summer to low 800s late summer.

Bill I just received was 725.

71 while we are home on all units. 74 on all but MBR one, we leave it at 71 for the dogs when we are gone during the day. In Winter everything stays pretty much on 71.

12 tons total cooling
Gas heat
Gas fireplaces
Gas stove & oven
1 electric oven
2 Gas water heaters
1 deep freezer
2 side by sides
Ice maker
Drink fridge
Electric clothes dryer

House isn’t very shaded from the sun. Typical 80s construction as it it could use more attic insulation and not all that airtight.

It is what it is. And for that much living sq footage I don’t think our bill is all that bad.

I’m thinking about having cellulose blown on top of our fiberglass batts in the attic to see if it will help any. I had the spray foam people come out and he said that he would just go blown cellulose bc the expense of the spray foam was not going to be a good of a ROI compared to the cellulose. He also advised against spraying under the roof deck bc it would shorten the life of our shingles. He said we have good attic ventilation and more insulation on top of what we have would be the best route.

He also said the blown cellulose is pretty good at stopping any air leaks the batts are allowing.
