Do you use a wire stripping tool or scissors?

By God I'm 59 and grew up with my dad's South Central Bell issued scissors and I strip wire the way God intended and my dad taught me.

I feel he smiles down on me every time I successfully strip a wire in 2 attempts with zero cut through strands.

I can't hang drywall or lay bricks but I can strip a mean wire me

Scissors are fine for stripping bell wire. I have a proper set of wire strippers for other things (actually several). But I have been known to use whatever sharp object is around if needed.

Hanging it, I can do. Floating sheetrock, I have rarely been so bad at anything.

or lay bricks

I have never endeavored to do this, so I would say I am also unable.

Modern wire strippers are quite amazing, no shame in using the most effective easiest to use tool for the job.

I use a set of Klein jouneyman pliers. I have probably 6 other sets of wire strippers of various types but those Kleins are my go to. I have a two sets of splicing kits with scissors and knives, I use one for dealing with the occasional network cable and the other set collects dust.

Never with wire strippers.

Sometimes with the knife that is in the pouch with my scissors.

Knife or stripping tool

Usually a knife though as it's always on me.

I always grab Klein wire strippers because you have to be so careful with scissors or a utility knife to put some little cuts into the copper wire.

Most of the time it's just my Old Timer pocket knife to strip the insulation off wires.

I enjoy using my wire stripper/cutter tool. It's one of my cleanest tools.

This is grounds for instant termination. The most unsafe thing you can do with a utility knife.

I try to use self adjusting strippers for everything, but if not using high reliability crimps, sometimes whatever is closest.

I feel you, but after I bought Kleins it was an easy transition into using a Gerber multi tool to strip wires (usually cat 3/5/6.) It probably made me a better lover with the hand dexterity required to do it right. You're welcome, ladies.
