I've only used a corded electric for the last 15 years. Just not a ton I need to blow off regularly, until now. New deck is complete, and after Zeta came through here, there were tons of pine needles everywhere, but collecting a good bit on the stairs and landing of the deck. Sweeping is fine, but figured it is time to upgrade and I don't want to deal with a cord or gas. Bonus is the kids can also use it to blow off the trampoline, since it seems to gather a good bit of leaves and pine needles over a few days.

Should I just get the cheapest ones at Lowe's or Home Depot? I may want to add additional cordless tools in the future, so that is a consideration as well. Any brands or models to avoid?

In that case I'd decide what tool brand first as it sounds most any blower will do what you want.

Don't waste your time on cordless electric if you need to move large amounts of leaves/pine needles or will need it for an extended period of time. I'd go gas handheld or backpack style. I like my Hitachi RB24EAP.

FWIW i have a battery Ryobi one (thats what most of my power tools are) and it works great.

Yeah if you can knock it out in 5 minutes of blowing, I'd decide on the battery platform you like and match the blower.

I wanted to do that, but I ended up with Ego for lawn tools and DeWalt for everything else. Very pleased with both. I have 6 oaks, 2 magnolias, and a handful of other trees to clean up after, and I'm not sure anything but Ego would be satisfactory without going to gas.

EGO blower. I was skeptical at first, but it has been awesome and zero hassle.

I'm pretty sure any top of the line will do.

My choice was between Makita and Milwaukee because they both have an extensive line of reliable top quality tools. One may be better a little better whatchamacallit but the other will excel elsewhere. However without the everyday need for power tools they'd not be worth it for most people.

For most one of popular brand extended warranty big box varieties will do.... Hitachi anbd Ryobi come to mind. However always check the full model number when comparing their better models because and extra X,Y, or Z at the end may be the difference in a 7 amp or 9 amp motor. Not always but enough times to check for sure.

I love my Dewalt blower. I have the smaller one and plan on getting the bigger one when they go on sale.

Oh yeah

From anytime now to Christmas is the time to buy power tools. November and December is when you'll usually see the best deals. Things like getting an extra battery or two thrown in.

Thanks all. Thinking of Ridgid since I live closest to HD. Already have a drill and driver set that is Porter Cable, but want to match brands and batteries on any new tools. There are a few cordless tools my wife would use for her business and stuff like the blower and other stuff I will replace as mine wears out.

That's the whole thing, and it's annoying that we have to do that. In Europe they're standardizing on a platform across manufacturers.

I have a Kobalt, and it works fine for blowing off the driveway, as long as it is dry. I can do it twice before needing to recharge.

I vote for EGO. Have one for two years and love it. It has a power boost button for when you need it. Runs for a while on a charge and charges quickly. I also have their hedge trimmer that I am very happy with.

I reach for my 24V Kobalt cordless blower more often than I do my Echo gas (which starts every time w/o a hitch). The Echo gets the nod on power, but I really like not needing to wear hearing protection with the Kobalt.

I bought Stihl battery powered weedeater and blower 4-5 years back. They’ve worked well for my residential needs. The batteries are interchangeable so it’s perfect. I keep one on charger and just swap the other out as needed. The blower isn’t as powerful as my other electric cord driven blower. But I needed cordless for around the pool.

As far as the weedeater, the respooling is a bit wanky but I’m used to it and good at it now. I’d otherwise look for one of those quick loaders if buying today.

Yeah I wish it was that simple here.

And to add a little to my original post, I’m not going to be blowing off the yard, driveway, or sidewalks that often. This is just to replace a broom for cleaning off the deck stairs for us and trampoline for the kids. I swept that stairs off after Zeta came through and while it only took a few minutes, getting pine needles off of the stairs would have been much easier with a blower. I have a corded one but no good spot to plug it in to where I can access the stairs.

I have the ryobi 40v jet fan blower and 40v string trimmer. Batteries are interchangeable between the two. It fits my needs, no complaints to this point. Had them for about a year now

Buy one with batteries you can use across their platform of other tools like Milwaukee Mikita Dewalt etc

Nothing else comes close.

I have a 2.5 and 5 battery and a string trimmer.

I threw away everything else in my garage.

Gas and other electric corded devices were just pissing in the wind. Ego changed my life.
