Recently built our forever home and got awesome insurance coverage but was dropped because of undeliverable mail for whatever that means. Don’t understand how they delivered the dropping notice and other mail didn’t make it.

With my work I deal with insurance companies all day every day. In North Louisiana right now Shelter and Farm Bureau are the two best for home owners. Both are typically a little pricier than others but they take care of their customers and pay out better than anybody. They also have better local adjusters as a whole. I've been in construction for quite some time, and handling insurance claims for 7 years now. About 6 months in I realized real quick that I needed to be as far away from State Farm as I could be.

Avoid State Farm and Allstate at all cost. All they look to do is screw over their home owners. I can't speak to their auto insurance and it's not like we haven't had good dealings with All State or State Farm before, but we've had 10x as many bad experiences. Those are the only two we've had customers file claims with the department of insurance, and it's happened numerous times.

I have liberty mutual. It's basically a bend over and take it because there aren't many options in South LA.

One of the biggest scams around

Is your "forever home" at or near 7 figures? If so, try Chubb.

I use an agent through Insurance Network of Louisiana. He is supposed to shop the rates for me and get me the best deal. Not sure if that part happens or not, but we bundle with Progressive for both Home & Auto.

Farm Bureau gave us the best deal. USSA, if you qualify, seems to be really good.

Going to progressive for auto but does that mean that our agent would automatically offer bundle? Would love to bundle but not sure it’s offered through the agent. Saving 2k per 6 months with progressive.

Yes, I’m pretty sure you can roll it into a bundle. Even if you had Auto through another provider, you could cancel the policy and get some of the premium back.

Just had a terrific experience with State Farm on a home owners claim. And I’ve been with them for less than a year. Go figure.

USAA, Travelers, and Liberty Mutual have been good to work with when it comes to homeowner claims

State Farm and Allstate are absolute nightmares... I have had MANY customers get absolutely screwed by these two companies

That's probably a first 6 month teaser rate. I went to Progressive last year and the first 6 months were cheap. Then the renewal came and it went up 50%. Good luck

Yeah mine went up as well. I think it’s moreso the LA market. There’s laws in place regarding increasing the rates, not sure if having initial teaser rates are allowed..maybe so though.

State Farm is by far the most expensive but historically has great service. USAA is incredible with service but can be pricey. They used to be a lot cheaper on auto but for homeowners they were much more than what we have now.

We got Safeco and haven't had to use them yet but seem fine. It was weird that they don't offer a hurricane claim option, just water damage coverages.

Chubb has the best program for homes over $700k. Farm Bureau is great if you bundle all your other lines. I've heard USAA is great too. Try to stay with an A-rated company no matter what.

American National had it in Texas for 7 years. Great agent him, mom, sister, we never met them, they were several hrs from where we lived but when we had an issue it was resolved. Moved back to La 8 years ago stayed with A.N. Had to get new agent and she’s good. I check around ever few years so far no one can touch policy quote. Have home and auto, couple of life policies.
