I use talstar (bifenthrin) for most pest control. You can buy it in granule or liquid. I throw the granules on an ant hill when I see one. Used the granules last year to fight webworms with success.

If you are in a hurry bengal roach spray will kill them in a minute or so, you just have to stir em up real good and a couple short sprays. I get an immense amount of satisfaction watching them do the death dance.

Using surrender by Martin’s , it stinks horribly but kills. The mound deader than shite and they don’t pop back up a few feet away

Talstar will take care of it and most everything else.

Dawn soap and water.

Mix together in a sprayer and go to town.
Works like a charm.

Most people don’t follow the directions. But if you don’t mind carrying a watering can with you as you sprinkle the mounds, this stuff does work. May not be the best. But the cheap stuff in the orange bag by spectracide does work if you water it in.

I’m disappointed in Orthene. Mounds pop back up a few feet away.

I tried most of recommended products mentioned here and within a few days another ant mound would pop up.

About 10 years ago someone recommended spraying the whole yard with Bifen-IT mixed with water. In general it will keep the ants at bay for 3 months. In addition to spraying the lawn I spray landscape plants and house overhang.

It takes care of mosquitos, termites, spiders and other pesky critters. Avoid flowers on plants because it will kill bees.
