Normally a DeWalt whore but looks like some other companies have better options. Anyone have any experience with battery powered?

Looking for something that will work well for shelve building and wood working when needed. I'm assuming Brad or Finish here but really only want to buy 1 since they're pretty pricey.

What say you guys?

Edit: Looks like Ryobi has a Brad and Finish combo that is $100 less than the DeWalt single 16 gauge.

How are Ryobi products?

My dad's set is all Ryobi. Finish nailers (straight and angled), brad nailer, and staplers. Great set that I’ve used a ton around my house for trim work.

I have the Ryobi nailer - I think max nail length is like 1.5" or 2", so not really the finish nailer, but it works awesome. Re-did the bathroom at the camp with it, including nailing center match tonge and groove shiplap style boards in for the wall. Would recommend

Love my DeWalt stuff but looks like its ~349 when I can get a Finish and Brad for 249 from Ryobi. That's hard to beat.

Long as folks don't have bad things to say, figure I should diversify in these woke times.

Yep, I understand. I got mine on sale. I had a bunch of different brands but then having all the different chargers set up got frustrating, so I sold off everything but the Dewalt.

Amazon and Home Depot should have a sale pretty soon if you want to wait it out a bit.

I just bought the ryobi Brad nailer today. I also bought an impact kit that came with a charger and 1.5 amp battery.

So far it seems like good quality, but I’ve only shot some practice nails. The 1.5 amp battery may prove to be too small, but a charger by itself was $40, and I got this battery, impact, charger combo for $60, so it was worth it to me.

They have a 4.0 amp 2 battery kit for $80 right now so I will probably go back and get that. All of my current tools are Milwaukee but my batteries are starting to go bad and replacements are crazy

I have a Paslode 16ga angled trim gun and the Milwaukee 18ga brad nailer, they are basically the best options for each type. I have mostly DeWalt tools but their cordless nailers are bulkier and heavier. My fiancé has the DeWalt 16ga angled nailer, she already had the batteries and it only for occasional small projects whereas I'm a more professional user. Though for bigger jobs I go to my Hitachi pneumatics, still the best for high volume work.

Are you sure you are looking at the right price? That seems expensive for ryobi battery powered? It should be close to $149 with a battery.

I’m happy with my ryobi stuff it’s consumer grade and the price point is great for the occasional weekend project. You could do a while house with it but I’m not sure I’d recommend that. If you already have dewalt tools and will be using it a ton, I’d go dewalt. If it’s just to do the occasional door frame or something, ryobi is great.

check and make sure they are tool only or both come with batteries. I know the dewalt has option for both. I found the dewalt with 2 batteries and a charger. I saw
Some tool only for about $100 cheaper. I needed more batteries

I did some research before buying my Ryobi 18ga nailer. It was pretty well reviewed and it has run flawlessly for me. I mean perfectly. I don’t know anything about their 16ga.

Agreed until you get down to 18ga and under then Cadex, Omer, and Grex make better guns.

I do 95+% of my nailing in the shop so I have never bought a battery-powered gun, I just drag my small CAT around.

I have an old Spotnails 1850, needs seals and o-rings to get running again. Don't know how many hundreds of thousands of nails it's run. I've looked at Grex before too.

I have a contractor friend who's been using a Senco F15 finish nailer for several years and absolutely raves about it

18v but has a sealed gas chamber which means no annoying ramp up time between nails. It's lightweight and Senco is a great well made brand

Love my Dewalt but I prefer to stay with this same lineup for all my tools

Zero problems with my dewalt.

Cant recommend having a nailer enough after trying to do finish trim with a hammer in a bathroom.

Can it be done well?
Yes, but not by me haha.

I have mostly Bosch 18V tools, but unfortunately they don't make a cordless nailer so I had to jump over to another brand when I wanted one. I bought the Craftsman 18g and haven't used my pneumatic since. Biggest job was running base board all through my 2400sqft house, as well as a couple of walls of shiplap. No hiccups. I did buy 2 extra batteries when I found them on sale at Lowes so I've now got 3.

I've got the Ryobi 18 gauge and don't think I've gotten a single jam with it. I am slowly replacing the cheaper Ryoni tools I bought (jigsaw, RO sander, etc.), but have no plans to replace the nailer. It works for what I do and have no real need for anything more at this time.

I have the Ryobi. I make up reasons to use it around the house. Works great.
