I have a couple of knockoff EGO batteries. They have been great. But, once they are done charging I store them in a fire cabinet. Can never be too careful.

I've had very good success with getting them rebuilt by MTO Battery. The rebuilt ones last longer than the original. They rebuild all types

I'm getting what I need to rebuild my own using the correct brand new Samsung and LG cells.

Lowes and Home Depot run specials on battery/tool kits all the time. Buy a battery/charger and get a free tool, buy a tool and get a free battery/charger. Even if it's a tool I don't want or need, and especially if it's another charger, I'll just sell what I don't want to back most of my money on the battery.

Exactly. Whenever I would need new batteries instead of buying separate batteries, I would buy a drill or something and get two batteries and a charger for about 200 bucks. The batteries at that time were about 80 dollars each. I guess that’s how I ended up with about five drills at one time. Still have a pile of chargers as well.

or put you and your family's safety at risk. Lots of house fires started by knockoff batteries. I get that good batteries are expensive but I would hope your kids are worth more than saving $50,

I have a couple of aftermarket batteries. They are what they are. Manage your expectations. You aren't going to get a $100 battery for $30.

I also bought an adapter that will let me swap different batteries on different tools, Mil on Dewalt, etc.

I've had decent luck with knock off batteries. The main thing I've seen is the knock offs are much more prone to break if dropped.

Early evening and the battery exploded in his shop and lit the shop on fire in multiple locations. Caught the ceiling on fire

This is what terrifies me about the knock off and why I never pulled the trigger on them.

My current EGO batteries are from 2018-2020 and two of four died this summer, assume they are the oldest, but I didn't keep track.

Will just pony up for the real deal. A few hundred $$$ over 6 or so years instead that bad.

Just a follow up to this. I searched & searched til I found these. A pair of Dewalt 20V 5ah batteries for $90. Came in the mail today, looks like factory. On the chargers now, will see what happens.

So just to be clear, you feel like the third party Walmart seller "Nicetomorrow" is highly reputable and is selling genuine Dewalt batteries for about 50% or less of what other known retailers are selling it for, even though the picture of their batteries does not match the picture of other verified authentic 2-packs? Just want to make sure we're on the same page here.

I just bought a 10 amp hour battery off of Walmart for my ego mower and it works great. I got it about six months ago for $99.
