I’ve got a couple tomatoes plants next to each other that are very light colored, rest of the row looks great.

I went ahead and put my plants under lights for the next couple days. Do I need to be careful putting them back in the sun?

Nah, they should be fine going back out in the sun. They’re already hardened off and a couple of days under lights won’t make a difference.

I’ll be bringing mine in tonight. Looks like I’ll be able to bring them back outside by Tuesday. At that point they’re going straight in the ground.

This is my plan as long as it's dry enough. Yesterday's rain did a number on my plot.

I just put mine back out. The 30 mph winds have not materialized today. It’s rainy and in the 40s. Currently projected for 37 tomorrow night. I’ll put the seedlings back in the garage for that and then they are getting planted. If that gets lowered, I’ll go cover some green beans.

And go ahead and mark strawberries as something raccoons will eat. Little bastards picked everyone that was about ready. Even left the stems on the ground for me to see. We are going to see how they like a few joules of electric current.

I was thinking of picking up a heat lamp or two in addition to coving my beds. It might be overkill but I don’t feel like starting over. It’s forecasted to get to 36 in my area.

It was sleeting on my plants this morning...

I'll bring them in this afternoon probably.

A little tip I used once, and only as a last resort. Get up tomorrow and Monday right before dawn and check for frost. If there is frost on your plants wash them off with a hose.

I did it once any my plants were fine. If they are frosted over you have nothing to lose.

I once put a sprinkler on a timer to run early in the morning to achieve the same goal. Worked like a charm.

I’m bringing mine in. Do I need to put lights on them inside ? My grow light is currently on my herb and flower seedlings.

I’ve got a halogen work light that is bright but puts out heat, and some fluorescent lights.

ETA… I’ve just raised my grow light to encompass more plants and added the other lights.

I have pole beans and tomatoes in pots, so i brought them in the house. I’m going to chance the onions, celery, and broccoli. Per the internet, they should be ok…i hope!

Just covered my tomatoes and peppers. It's a forecast low of 32 so I'll be 34 in the city but my tomatoes are doing well so why chance it.

I’m getting some beautiful strawberries. I guess tomorrow I’ll cover them before it drops below freezing tomorrow night. I’d hate to lose all of the small berries I got coming up.

ETA: I did have about a half dozen that were destroyed by the birds. Gotta get on the decoy rock project soon.

Moved all of the tomato, pepper, eggplant, sunflower, and squash into the garage and set up some heat lamps. That should keep them warm enough for the next couple of nights. The forecast for Tuesday is warming up. Might be able to bring them back outside Monday afternoon. :fingerscrossed:

Thanks to another thread about watering a garden, I ordered one of these EZ-FLO fertilizer injectors and it came in today!

As soon as this cold passes, it’s go time!

That’s right. It was you who recommended it!

I think my wife will also love it. It won’t take me 2 hours to fertilize everything now!

Fingers crossed. Covered my peppers and tomatoes with pots, buckets, and boxes. Threw some compost on top to hold them down. Didn't bother covering cucumbers and beans. I'll just replant those.

This is my first year growing at our new house, and we have a small covered patio that's open on the south and west side, north and east side are blocked by the house. I have all my tomatoes, peppers and a zucchini in either final pots or elevated beds already. Will they be fine under the patio butted up against the house or should I bring them inside tonight?

If it’s going to get below freezing, bring them inside if you can.
