Try something like Mass Gainer
This. Have him take a shake in the morning before breakfast and at night before bed.

Try the Health/Fitness Board. lsu777 and a lot of other knowledgeable guys over there can lead you in the right direction.
This.
First, your son needs to up his carb and protein intake. There are no supps that will make up for insufficient dietary intake.
White rice and beef/chicken would be my recommendations. The white rice will give a lot of carbs that are easy to digest.

Crazy idea. Don’t take pills or supplements. Eat healthy food and live a normal life instead of taking some shite not regulated by the FDA.
Maybe that’s just me, I am an all natural kind of guy

Ok, any tips to which brand and dosage? Sorry but really I know nothing about this.
IMO just go on Amazon and buy the big tub of Optimum Nutrition creatine (1lb tub I think) and the big 5lb tubs of Optimum Nutrition protein. Get double rich chocolate or milk chocolate.
In addition to what he currently eats every day blend 4 heaping scoops of protein, 1 heaping spoonful of creatine, a banana, and a big scoop of peanut butter with 50/50 ice and water. Tastes good and will add over 1000 calories and 100 grams of protein to his current diet.

There won't be football this year.

He's not looking for huge bulk, but maybe like 20-25lbs of bulk would help
In what amount of time? A clean bulk, of muscle of 20-25 lbs.. will take a few years... dirty bulk, less. But i dnt think thats his goal. Feed the kid lots of protein shakes (not meals) extra protein twice a day. Eat alot of egg whites, meat, and jars of PB.

Eat. Sleep.
He needs to eat more. And he needs to sleep more.
Train quads, glutes, core muscles more than the pretty ones.
Eat.
Eat.
Did I mention eat?
Red meats trump chicken. Fish trumps chicken. A dozen eggs should be normal.
At that age he can force his body to gain A LOT of muscle.
PS: if he wants to avoid joint pain in a few years, carry a little fat while all of this is going on.

Eating more doesn't work because he eats damn near everything
As others have already mentioned...if he’s not gaining weight then he needs to eat more
That being said, how big is he now? Putting on weight for most high school football players is an old school football fallacy. He should be more concerned with getting stronger/faster at the moment and adding weight doesn’t make you faster.

No on creatine and no on mass gainers
I agree on the mass gainer part, but creatine is a staple item. Has been tested extensively for the last 25-30 years and is very safe and effective

5 grams of Good old plain creatine monohydrate taken before or after workouts works well
* This is assuming you are taking care of basic nutrition and he is eating at a calorie surplus with quality protein and carbs

Creatine is just water weight. Put some muscle on the kid.
