Just have him eat his arse off and then eat some more. The only way to get big is to eat big and that includes people running juice. Calories are king concerning muscle.

Lifting heavier and more explosively helps with building muscle especially with a sport like football

What is his height and weight? that would be helpful

Creatine is good, and eating more is another good suggestion. You might think he eats a lot, but that is something you will need to measure to be sure.

Creatine volumizes cells, allowing more nutrient travel in and out, which builds muscle.

Creatine is the best researched, most reliable muscle building supplement there is.

The first focus should be 1 g of protein per pound of bodyweight and upping carbs through white rice to find a good level from there, but as supps go, creatine is it.

Diet is 95%, supps are 5%.

Are you confusing creatine with creatinine levels in your blood? I know creatinine levels have to do with your kidneys ability to function.

Creatine isn't any worse than protein for your kidneys. A healthy kidney should be able to handle it fine.

Good hydration is also good, though, not just for kidneys, but in general.

Calories. He needs calories, calories, and more calories. Young athletes burn so much energy. Have him drink whole milk or something calorie dense I'm addition to what he's currently eating. If that doesn't do it, you can start preparing him mass gainer shakes with whole milk, oats, and protein powder to supplement even more.

Creatine won’t make you lift more explosively, a good program and diet will

Don’t listen to this shite. Caloric needs and macros aren’t determined by some rando claiming certain foods trump each other.

They each have their uses depending on if you are trying to get lean, etc

Chicken has a place. Red meat and fish have more micronutrients, but chicken breast is generally easier to digest.

For OP's kid, he should be looking to pack a lot of protein into his diet. Chicken breast helps augment fish/red meat because you can digest more of it quickly.

There's a difference between just maximizing health and health plus weight/muscle gain. Enhancing your ability to get more food down isn't good for overall health, but it is for weight gain.

Until you're trying to eat 3lbs of chicken. Daily.

Eating to get significantly stronger is neither easy nor pleasant.

There's a reason you see strong men eating rice. Easily digestible calories.

Some people in here know what they are talking about like rep520, LE and a few others but most are dumb.

Creatine works and is the most researched supplement in history and has no adverse side effects other than water weight. Good supplement to add but doesn't need it.

To the guys saying chicken is as good as beef, no it isn't. Micronutrients in red meat is much better.

OP, you should head to the H&F board. Oh and he doesn't eat newyry enough of what he should.

But here are two simple programs with diet attached to it that would be perfect for him, both based off 531 system.

LINK

LINK

Everyone trying to gain weight always says they eat a ton...they don't. Tell them to eat 2 lbs of beef and dozen eggs a day and they look at you crazy....but guess what that's what it takes.

An easy way to gain weight is simply this

Breakfast-6 eggs, couple pieces of toast, 3-4oz ground beef and. 59g protein shake

Snack- 50g protein shake with a piece of fruit

Lunch- 12oz of ground beef with a cup or two of rice

Snack- 50g protein shake

Dinner- 12oz meat and some form of carb

Before bed- 50g protein shake

Middle of the night-75g protein shake

If he isn't gaining weight with that, add a tbsp of olive oil to each shake. Keep adding olive oil slowly until he does start gaining weight.

The above is just an example of how it can be done and what many have to do to gain weight, would need to know weight and height to even have a clue on how to adjust for him specifically. Nothing magical about the protein shakes they are just easy to drink.

But gaining weight is not a difficult mathematical formula, you simply make sure you are lifting for progressive overload and above minimal effective volume levels utilizing the basic barbell lifts, get a minimum of 200 or so grams of protein and eat in a carloric surplus. If he isn't gaining weight, he isn't eating enough. It's why a gallon of milk works.

OP head to the H&F board for more specific answers.
