For the last year, my ability to finish my powerlifting-oriented and grip workouts has diminished. I think it’s due to my previous job where I had to work excessive OT, had enormous stress.

I can usually do no more than 2 exercises in an evening. Is there any way to correct this?

Persistence! And, look at your amount of quality sleep and diet. Of course you’d have to alleviate mental stress to get the sleep and eat correctly.

Ask me how I know.

How many sets and reps of those exercises are you doing?

Almost 50, I feel the lack of energy issue in my AM workouts. I switched up breakfast from yogurt to bacon. Drink a cup of greens. And a banana at least every other day. Energy issue much better within about two weeks.

It’s annoying how such small changes made such a difference.

Funny you mention that, yogurt doesn’t give much energy to me, makes me feel sluggish afterwards.

If this keeps up you may need a name change.

Have you had labs drawn lately?

I’m genuinely scared of doing that. I suffer from severe anxiety and fear that a poor blood panel will worsen it. I know, sounds stupid.

Not sure how old you are but you should be checking labs at least annually.

I don’t see how people can workout without some form of stimulant.

There's really no working around this, you just have to do regular, routine blood studies. If it helps, you can just go to your doctor and tell them your anxiety about the results and have your blood test results sent to your doctor and YOU don't access them yourself. Go to your follow up appointment and let your doctor handle their part, the interpretation of the results, that part is not YOUR job to complete. I know, I know, here on the H&F board we all discuss all manner of topics like we are authorities on these matters, but it's just discussion, most of us here are not qualified to interpret blood test results. You need to NOT avoid routine medical care due to your anxiety, if there's something with your health that needs to be addressed, it will only get worse if you delay giving it the attention it needs.

This doesn't address the root cause, it's merely a band-aid. Stimulants can help, but digging down into the root cause of the lack of energy is more important to address.
