yep the OG. been through approx 10 pairs.get 300 solid road miles on them and then they are good for another 100 or so if i have to or used on treadmill. Adidas boston 9 is solid for everyday use but having hard time finding those as well without paying full price. I don't like them that much for $120.

PSA: Academy clearance

Clearance shoes at Academy are now 50% off the clearance price. Between Elmwood and Covington picked up the following this week:

Nike React Miler
Brooks Adrenaline GTS 20
Brooks Anthem 3

Total after tax: $98.37

Lots still at Elmwood, especially women’s. Not much left at Covington

Adidas site had them on sale a few weeks ago, just every size but mine. ?? At this point I guess I will wait for the 10s.

Never ran in them, but IIRC, the Zoom Fly SP was similar and can still be found online. Or could snag some pairs on StockX. Not sure a replacement because I’m not familiar enough with Lunarlon. I have a pair of ZFSP in size 9 or 9.5 I’d offload, 50 miles on them.

Lots of Adidas running shoes have been finding their way to places like Ross and Burlington. I’d go take a look there. May luck out and find some Boston’s

I hit jackpot last summer at one here. Got a pair of previous model Nike Pegasus trail for $35 and Asics NovaBlast for $35 (which think had just recently came out)

What do y'all like to use as a daily trainer? Something that I can use on a normal 5 mile run at 8-9 minute pace that is comfortable enough to use on 10-15 mile training runs too.

Endorphine Speed. I haven't found a pace or distance that I don't enjoy wearing them.

Just spent some time in New Balance and they sent me home with a pair of 860s. First time taking things like my gait and overpronation seriously.

Anyone use these (the new model)? I can definitely tell a difference them compared to my previous 10 year old generic Nike running shoes when it comes to the arch support. I suspect it will make a difference in how I feel long term.

Quoting my own post here. How long does it take to break in shoes? I'm about 60 miles into these doing interval jogging ( 1 minute jogging / 1 minute walking) and still am getting pain after a few minutes in on the outside edge of my feet, mainly my right foot. I was advised this stability model because my ankles turn in. Is it normal for this pain to be normal for this long?

Is this just a case of my feet having to relearn how to walk and jog the painful way?

Are the Endorphine Speed more firm than the Kinvara? Kinvara are too squishy for me.

Okay not the 1080v10

You prefer a firm shoe with good/decent ground feel?

Can’t say based on a post here, the real answer is to see a doctor or PT to assess your gait and see what the issue is.

My unqualified $0.02, and possibly the bearer of bad news, if you were running relatively pain free in your generic nikes then you would have been fine in a neutral shoe. The stability features could be causing issues. IMO, shoe fitters over prescribe stability shoes. Traditional stability shoes are beginning to fall out of favor as well - seeing less medial posting and more “support clips” on the heel or guide rails/bumpers.

Haven’t tried the Kinvara although I’ve been wanting to give them a shot. I would say the Speeds are on par with the Zoom Fly in regards to “squishy”.

^ was going to be my next recommendation. Good shoe, on the firm side, and can handle a wide range of runs.

Ended up buying the Kinvara 12 a couple weeks ago. The Future/Black colorway was too nice to pass up and for only $110 I figured why not. I've been enjoying them as an easy/steady day shoe. Very comfortable and honestly the PWRRUN foam is the closest thing to ZoomX I've felt.

I also have a pair of Alpha Fly's incoming. I made a low bid on StockX just for the hell of it and ended up winning. Got a size 11 shipped for 195. I debated on getting another pair of Next%, but I realized I only have 70 miles on mine so thought I'd try the Alpha's.

I really like my Reebok Forever Floatride Energy for my weekly Thursday 6ish mile training runs in that 8-9 minute pace range. Ordered them last May due to this thread and great shoe for price point. Not sure I would feel completely comfortable in double digits with them.

My girlfriend got me a pair of the Brook Launch (not sure what #) Rock N Roll that I really like and would feel comfortable going 10+ in (which is VERY rare). They are lightweight and very responsive.

GF got me a pair of the Endorphin Speed. Nice shoe overall. not as much ground feel as I like and I definitely like them more at an up tempo pace. around 8:00 and slower they feel too soft for me but at same time they are super comfortable.

Got the Alpha Fly in yesterday. Took them on a tempo run this morning. 15 min WU, 10 min @ GMP, 10 min @ GHMP, 5 min @ GHMP-5 sec, 10 min CD.

These things feel like moon boots that are vacuum sealed on your feet when you first put them on. It honestly felt really strange the first mile or so. It feels tall and bulky, and at slower paces feels flat out awkward. They feel light in my hands but heavier on my feet (if that makes sense).

GMP felt easy, quicker paces felt good, and legs felt great afterward. Mostly felt easy to change paces and switch gears between the tempos. I'm excited to try them on a longer distance, but right now I'm still grabbing my Next% for my race in a couple weeks.
