made it to 215 before my elk hunt. Performed much better being 40 pounds lighter. Didn’t kill one, but my physical abilities had nothing to do with my inability to get in bow range of a bull. I now want to be 185 next September, I am running a half marathon in January and im Shooting to be under 200 for that. I have to have a crazy extensive physical for my job every year, my resting heart rate is down around 20 BPM, blood pressure is down 15 or so on top and bottom number, and I scored excellent in all the fitness categories they have, the 40 pounds has really given me a whole new confidence and outlook on my own health.

Dang almost identical story.
250 start had a goal of 220 hit 215 before my elk hunt and now sitting at 210.
Ended up not getting an elk but got a whole different attitude on my health. Went for my I body scan yesterday and sitting at 16% BF.
I have lost 2 pounds of muscle since my first scan back in the spring so gonna start more weight and less cardio for the winter. Been averaging 12-18miles a week between running and weighted rucks.

Jumping back in for the first time in about 12 or 13 years. This thread was a lot of help the last time I needed to make a big change. I’m older now, can’t out exercise my diet any more, and have found myself going long stretches without doing anything.

So here we go.

Man... I posted a while back about some lofty goals of getting down to 195 or something because I'd gotten down to 205. Then I ate like a pig all summer and into the Fall. Got up to 224.

My wife (a vegetarian) is finally into trying to get more protein and believing in protein. Neither one of us are fasting like we used to, but we're both using protein-rich foods for snacks (string cheese, yogurt, nuts, etc..).

Our oldest son also moved into his dorm, and our younger son and his girlfriend broke up... meaning we don't have huge sitdown family meals like we did almost every night prior. So that's helping us to eat much better for our dinners as well.

Anyway, got down to 208 from 224 over the last few months, so pretty stoked. Kind of amazed at how just really focusing on 1:10 protein:calorie ratio in as much of what we eat as possible has made a huge difference.

I'm stilling hanging in there. The scale did not move for a few weeks despite staying consistent and even cutting out drinking altogether, so I decided it was time to up my dose to 5mg.

Keep it up Hulk!!! That's the lowest Ive ever seen you post!

232/220/205 We had a water line burst, flood the house, and have been under construction for a month. Ive been eating terrible, basically anything in front of me at meal time. However, I have maintained weight well. vacation next week, so Ill need to be careful not to snack all day which can happen at the camp, but I really dont snack much anymore.

We decided to join the local gym/club in the new year. Its time for me to get back to lifting weights as much as my back will tolerate.

Not bad for the first week considering I had to travel last weekend and my schedule was out of whack this week. I should be able to start getting into a better workout and cooking routine next week.

Time to get this thread rollin again!

I gave myself a free day to eat and drink whatever I wanted yesterday and it wasn’t what it was cracked up to me. I spent the evening in my chair feeling like a bloated bulldog. frick that mess. Back at the gym for a solid 90 min this am to get back on track.

It’s been nice Enjoying the quiet gym before the masses return.

What a difference 2 years makes. LFG!

Plans for 2025 are just to keep consistent resistance training and keep dropping that BF%. I’m pretty happy with current weight but could stand to lose another 5-10 probably.

pretty good, been hitting filling out the hoodie pretty good. i switched jobs and they have a really nice gym on site so been able to hit that a couple times a week too which takes stress off trying to get it in at home

yea back on the squat rack, hit 145 for three sets of 5 yesterday. still a little pain on squats but its more just getting the knee used to load again, mainly ligaments but overall getting better and better...especially considering its only been a little over 8 weeks.

been doing pretty decent on diet but have to dial in as i did put on a good bit of bodyfat in the first 4-6 weeks between the surgery, vacations, holidays etc.

in a really good spot though to be able to stay really disciplined and hit goals I havent been able to reach in 5+ years which is nice

prolly gonna email you later today or tomorrow

Hell yeah Impressive for 2 months after a procedure.

Same. I’ve been getting close to 200gm protein a day but it’s time to buckle down on my carbs & fats. I’m staying around 2200-2400 cal a day but plan on dropping to 2000 in January to see how I respond. Would love to see what’s left of my love handles go the frick away. Down to a 32” waist and XL tops so that’s got me feeling really good.

Back on this train for first few months of this year
After losing 30lbs in 2023 and realizing I need muscle, I've trained for an entire year and gained ~20lbs but same waist pants, etc. I'm confident at least a decent portion has been muscle.
Getting a little too fluffy after the holidays so trying to lose about 10-15lbs, hopefully quickly, to jump start a muscle gain phase for rest of the year (still a long way to go there). I don't want to waste too much time trying to cut.

Eating at a deficit after almost 15 months of maintenance to small surplus is going to suck.

just do a 6 week mini cut. try and start at 10k steps ramping to 18-20k steps over that time.

keep protein above 200g a day

keep a 500 calorie deficit before the steps

lift 3x per week heavy but brief. 2-3 sets per lift, 3-5 lifts per session. Leangains approach works very well here.
