9.23 @ 13:00 pace for right at 2hrs.
Was planning on maybe doing 3hr but experimenting with trying different fuel. Been using tailwind but tried nerd clusters/LMNT and a banana and paid for it lol (stomach and bonked hard) Wanted to have a back up in case I ran out of tail wind, back up plan will be have emergency tailwind.

Have you tried any of the Gu gels? The little applesauce pouches hit hard too. I've got an iron stomach and have eaten burritos at halfway points, but Gu gels, pop tarts and honey on toast are always my go tos for longer runs. Do you eat anything pre run?

Yeah I have had used gells some but had just kind of locked in on tailwind. I typically eat a tortilla with PB/honey 30mins before a long run and may try to pack some for while I’m running just to have an option.

Scrolling through this thread again is making me miss this bad. Stage of life I’m in just isn’t allowing it right now. I’m in line for an assistant principal/AD job at my school. If I get that I’m probably going to force myself to start back up again just to keep my sanity.

3.5 at 8:47/mi, I've been faster the last couple of weeks and I'm not really trying to be. I do need a haircut though.

5 at 9min, getting toasty out there now and ice in the camel back is clutch.

Ran the OKC Memorial Half Marathon on Sunday. Finished with a 2:07:08. Was hoping for a 2:05 but some knee pain slowed me down. Atmosphere was incredible!

quote:ran the full in 2024. Loved the atmosphere up until the time the full course split from the half. You can tell they put half the effort into the full than they did the half. Everything after mile 9 until mile 22 or whenever it was the courses linked back together for the full was insanely dead with limited exceptions. Even felt like the aid stations became more sparse.

Full disclosure: I also blew up and had one of the most miserable racing experiences of my life due to my own stupidity so my opinion may be a bit swayed by something that is not their fault

This is why I think I'll do something like Houston if I'm ever going to try a full. I've heard similar things about the Louisiana half/full where you're basically left out to dry once the course splits

New to this thread, but seemed like the place to post my running journey.
Goal I set this year was to average 1 miles per day on the year.
I didn’t quite make it last year.
On a much better track this year.
Today’s run:

I ran the full the last two years and while it’s not as packed with people cheering and the Jell-O shots and boom boxes and all that on the mid half of it there is no shortage of aid stations. It’s my only marathon experience but i highly recommend it and I plan to run it again next year.

5/1 - 3.2 Mi 8:35 pace
5/2 - 11 Mi 8:26 pace
5/4 - 5 Mi 8:35 pace
It has been perfect weather the last few days for running. I am not looking forward to 80 before sunrise and 95%+ RH.

Yeah that’s pretty much it. Most of it is partial shade but there is a spot by the river that’s full sun for a short distance and then the main road up towards the gate section is full sun mid day as well.
Heat/humidity is the worse part of the race but hey it’s south La.
Forgot to get back around to this, I'm registered for the 50k,,, I saw last years 50k winner ran it in 6:22:00. I know it's not during winter or a marathon, but I feel like sub 6:00:00 is doable. Will likely get humbled on race day lol.

Yeah well talk about humbled, there was a guy who lapped me and I saw him running what looked like a 5k pace and so I just assumed he was running the 50k. When i crossed the 50k finish a few mins maybe 15-20mins later I see him coming in!!! He was the 50mi first place finish. Dude was rolling and that was supposed to be his build up for an upcoming 100mi.
Thanks for reminding me how slow I was lol
As for blowing up I tried to run my marathon pace 10.5 or so and just couldn’t get my heart rate down. Good luck hopefully I’m out there for the 50m

Some of those ultra runners times are crazy fast. Summer heat slows me down a good bit. I also run before sunrise most mornings so I will have to change that to have a chance. Working on building some base miles now. Using this race to motivate myself to run between 30-40 mpw until the race. I need to also sign up for the Bleau Moon 10 miler. I have had two bad races there the last 2 years so I need to have a solid summer of training before starting to get ready for Louisiana Marathon. Are you signed up for the 50 miler yet? Good luck with it, I have zero idea how one would train for something like that! Looks like the 50k and 50m each have 9 people currently registered.

I ran bleu moon last year and had a DNF on the Q50 bogu chitta race this spring.
No I have not registered yet my work schedule as been kind of wonky so been just waiting to register.
I ran La marathon for a lead up to my attempt at the 50m but used a 10.5 -11 min pace as my target since that’s what I ran the La marathon at.
1-20 I was cruising but 21 I realized I screwed up
All those hills had me hurting, slowed to a point that my pace had me not finishing before 12hr so I pulled the plug on three loops.
I plan to run walk from get go and average a 13min pace for the first 30 miles and then if I feel good then speed up. I just turned 50 and my goal
Is a 50 miler and no matter how bad it looks I just want a finish!!

I've been running a mile every morning save for Sunday for at least a month now and I finally finished a mile under 10 minutes, just have to decide whether to add more miles or to try running faster.

Today’s run:
Average pace came out to 7.50 per mile, but that was because the app records my cooldown walk.
Had an average 7.27 pace.
Looking to go for a half marathon to start at some point, but not really sure where to start training.
My running app (Run Trainer) is great for up to 10k.
