What’s your avg HR on these runs? For someone just starting out, that’s pretty aggressive on mileage and pace. Unless you were a seasoned runner and just getting back into it.

Average for that run was 160 per my Apple Watch.

I’m not just starting out.

I have been running for a long time, but never really pushed myself beyond 4 miles consistently.

Did a “train for a 10k” run plan on the app and it is more timed runs, rather than distance.

I used to do cross country years ago and, until last year, ran inconsistently.

Never really done any races though

Fair enough. Probably still a bit hot if you’re intending to train for a half. My easy run pace for my last training block was 8:30 to 9:00 per mile. HR usually in the 130s/140s…though that varies for everyone. I ended up not running the half and did a 10 miler instead and finished in 1:07:28, then did a 5k shortly after in 19:14. I’m far far far from the fastest guy on here, but just wanted to give you some reference for training pace vs race pace. Keep easy days easy and hard days hard.

Oh, I know that I am not going to run that pace for a half marathon.

It was a 55 minute run and it felt good while running it.

I would be much slower on any race.

I could pull off that or faster for a 10k.

I would have to actually train for a half.

But you probably could run that fast or faster for a half with training no problem. Just get some variation in your running. 3 or 4 days per week, run slow, 1 day run fast, 1 day run long. Keep adding mileage.
