I've been gearing up for the CCC. Trying to see if i can sneak into the top 500 and get a posted but will have to PR to get that done. The bad weather might help me with that goal.

There have been some bad weather years where like 46 minutes can get a poster. The weather is looking to be awful so depending on your PR you might have a shot

I frame the ones I like and put them in my treadmill room. The Becky Fos and Casey Langteau ones are great

Those are really nice. This is the one I had. I only ran it once when I was coming off an injury and didn't run track that spring.......yea, I'm old.....

In years with good weather how fast do you have to run to be in the top 500?!?! A painting as a reward is really cool

Not sure but I googled it and it looks like around 45 minutes.

It is just a poster print but the one I had goes for about $300 now which is crazy.

shite I need to find mine then. I have one of the 80's posters that matches yours!
Sub 45 is safe some years. Sub 44 is pretty much guaranteed. It's top 500 gender so getting chicked doesn't hurt your chances

No CCC for me this morning. Tendonitis was too much and I chose to take a few days off instead of risking it. It sucks because I think I could've been close to top 100 with how workouts were going. I did a few 3 minute reps at my goal 10k pace and felt smooth besides the foot pain.
Sub 45 did end up getting a poster this year!

Got in ten miles Saturday morning at a 9:46 pace. OKC Memorial Half Marathon is in 3 weeks. An incredible race to take apart of!

Salmon, you started this thread a few months before my first son was born. I was almost exactly one year out of chemo.
Ran the Missoula half marathon a month after treatment, the Golden Leaf Half Marathon trail run a couple months after that, and my first organized marathon event a year later.
I have switched to mostly trail running and just do it when I can now that I’m 51 and the boys take up all our “spare” time and energy.
I do the Greenville Half most years, untrained apart from sporadic running. I just wake up and do it. Try to hit 8 min miles. That’s the extent of my “speed”aspirations.
All that said, I’ve set a goal for a self-trail marathon (ish) sometime before it’s hotter than balls.
It’s going to be between 23 and 25miles (I may just double back at the end to make 26.2 if it’s close to it). 5000ft + elevation gain. There are a couple uphill spots where it’s impossible to even jog—climbing rocks.
This will cover every trail at Table Rock State Park (SC). Two full ascents, one partial (I’ll take a ridge traverse from near the first summit to near the second), and two downhill bombs. With some relatively flat and rolling stuff mixed in.
I need to scroll through the thread/board and find some injury-prevention programs.
My left Achilles is what’s prone to overuse injury. Any advice welcome and glad to be back!

That’s a bummer.
I almost gave about 300 people tendinitis with the front wheel of a double bob. Need to lobby for a stroller racing coral.

Anyone else use Strava on a Samsung watch? After an update, the app isn't staying on the screen, it goes back to the watch face. It's still recording the workout, but it's annoying. I looked for a setting and haven't found anything. I restarted the watch too.

I just discovered this thread. I had just posted in another thread about what I was training for.
I'm about to turn 70 in three weeks. I'm celebrating by running in my first 5k race. I'm still very slow compared to where I think I should be. Life threw a lot of stuff at me the last six months of last year and the first several months of this year. Still dealing with all that, too, but it really slowed down my progression and the consistency wasn't there. Now, I think I have it down and I have a training buddy who is a marathon runner in the London marathon coming up. He's been really helpful, but I was holding him up so he could train properly for that marathon.
I run 3-4 5k runs a week, plus a lot of additional walking and short runs. I'm able to run almost a full mile before I have to slow down and walk to lower my bpm. My pace is down to 12:48.

Congrats on getting out there and doing it. I started with a 5k 2yrs ago and have now completed two marathons and a 50k and a portion of a 50 miler.
Don’t worry about the run walking and if you haven’t heard of it google Jeff Galloway method. You may be able to run walking just as fast or faster using it and if nothing else your recovery will be faster after the race.
