The worst race in New Orleans for congestion is the Turkey Day race. No actual corrals and a narrow road for the start. Thankfully I never “race” that race.
A 5 miler on Thanksgiving is diabolical anyway

rodeo houston 10k is absolute worst for that. Cause they have a 5k that finished with the 10k
i felt like i was returning a punt I had to juke so much to meet the time i was shooting for.

I've run in a few of the races, several years ago, but I refuse to do them anymore because of the walkers that I mentioned.
The costumes have gotten so bad that Disney had to start clamping down on them.
Imagine trying to run past a group of 300lb people dressed like a table and place set, an armoire, and a giant clock, all from Beauty and the Beast walking side by side.

You are 100% accurate about runDisney Facebook group lol. I enjoy the folks who signed up to run Dopey and about 3 months before start asking for training advice lol. Theres also one middle aged women who was posting damn near every run on there with half her breast showing, with a filter to make herself look younger. More people are proud of finding ways to cheat the corral (proof of time) system to stay ahead of the 16min/mi requirement than they put into actually training for the races. I had my PW worse there a few years ago and now back to running, so I signed up for just the marathon in January to redeem myself. If you signed up, I am sorry. Each time I have ran the race it was 72-75 with 100%RH at the start. The next day after the run a front would pass and it was in the 40's on the Monday morning.

I know exactly who you're talking about. She posts damn near daily. She's got giant fake boobs.
And her runs are like 5k's and stuff. I get maybe she's trying to motivate people, but seriously?

She seeks a lot of attention and likes on Facebook. Her pace is probably top 30% for Disney runners (Thats not much to get excited about). I do not think the runDisney group was meant as a share your daily runs group. Yet, here we are.

I wouldn't be surprised if she's got an OF or something similar. The way she promotes her giant fake boobs, there's no way guys aren't sending her messages.

No, it isn't at all. Like I said, I applaud anyone for being active, I love it, but that group has devolved into some who can outdo who by dressing in drag for the event.
To your other comment about asking a month before Dopey for advice on training, I just laugh at those. I imagine that runDisney DNF's must be some of the highest ones in the running world.
People have commandeered the events as dress up time drag hour then cry about DNF'ing on the page.

My membership is still pending, I need a good laugh

I got to 60 miles last week
I just hope all these miles give me the payoff I'm hoping for

The group is kinda boring until race days though you'll get to see big fake boobs a few times a week.

I wouldn’t bother with 18 or 20. You know you can run 26. I’d run 15. 1 up, 13 @ goal pace, and 1 down or more if you want extra. Hopefully not interrupted with IT phone calls. The pace miles here is way better indicator than 5 on a random run.
Different subject. Adidas EVO SL. I got 120 miles on them. It’s a solid comfortable shoe that handles any pace. Complaint is the tongue. It’s not gusseted and has weird pad near the top that the laces hit when tied.

I mean, how big are we talking here? ... it could have an impact on my training. I just want to be prepared.

Had been meaning to check in with you on those. Any good as a workout shoe?
I’m actually enjoying my On Cloudmonster Hypers. They got a lot of hate when they released but I think that was mainly because of the price. It’s a good mileage shoe IMO, especially at $150 vs msrp of $200+.
If anyone here has an interest in Brooks Ghost Max 1 or Topo Specter, let me know. Both have under 20 miles on them. Men’s size 9.

All I have used them for is pace miles but they are VERY snappy. They are using the foam from the adios Pro 3 which is more bouncy than the 4 so from what my friends were telling me they are actually better at faster stuff than the Pro 4 is
ETA: I bought a second pair today

Took today off to run around with my 18 month old in the yard, 60 hours out from 27 mile trail race. Nerves are finally setting in, never ran that far but super pumped. Ran a 5k, 10k, and half in March so this is the cherry on top. Been sober 2.5 years, lost over 100lbs, we had our first baby and I'll graduate college next year and this race has taken on a symbolic meaning of all of that to me for some reason. Cannot freaking wait.

Excited for you, my man. What race is it?

They're pretty big, but i wouldn't say obnoxious. She wears this strange running top that shows a lot, she has a side boob tattoo. She's not a half bad looking chick, but she's definitely using a face filter on her pics.

Good luck, baw! You'll do fine.

Lake Martin 100, they offer a 27 and 50 option a well. Once I can wrap up school and the baby gets a little older, training for the 100 will be an option but there's just not enough time right now. Bought a BOB stroller after she was born just to get some extra training in, my wife works night's at the hospital and i learned early that car rides/stroller runs put my girl straight to sleep.

The 5 is definitely a better indicator than anything having to do with him stopping on a couple runs to field calls.
