Regarding your knees over toes post, are you paying for the program or did you find it somewhere "else"? I've got some of the same issues: IT band, piriformis, etc. I was considering trying it out but wasn't sure it was worth the price, how it's fits into your running schedule, all that good stuff.
I'm too old to figure out how to get it for free. I signed up for it.
It depends on where you start. I started with ZERO which is just resistance and stretches that require no weight or equipment. I've since moved to DENSE which is the weighted program and does require some things that most gyms will have. Moving to DENSE is when I really noticed my issues going away (plantar fasciitis, IT Band, sesamoiditis). What I like about the paid program is the ability to message a trainer. Whenever I had a specific issue, I could ask and get either a specific routine to fix what I had or a recommendation to concentrate more time on something I was already doing.
It's pretty fundamental with nothing real crazy. I doubt you'll ever look like a bodybuilder doing it. My goal is heart health and longevity. Running is for heart health and the Knees Over Toes program is to enable me to run for as long as possible.
The DENSE is four days a week and I work on my weakness on Saturday (my IT Band). Two days is strictly lower body. You'd better run before this workout. The other two days is hips and upper body. You can run on these days before or after IMO.

You're a beast baw. Anyone that would think otherwise is an idiot and who cares what an idiot thinks.

I have the Knees Over Toes Book Zero if anyone wants it. I finished it and don't need it anymore. First person who sends me a message on strava gets it.
Easy to read , understand, and has tons of modifications.

Yep, I’m gonna enjoy this weeks cold front. First time in months I haven’t been drenched after a run.

Jordan -
I ran in Saucony xodus ultra and changed socks once. It's a pretty good shoe. plenty of cushion, good toe protection, and easy to run in. I did have some trouble with it on wet stuff (wood and dirty rock on some of the steeper descents) since it rained for the first 5 hrs of the race. It handled mud fine. I did have to go up half size. Most popular shoe at this race was probably the hoka speedgoat.
Some people use one pair the entire race, others may have a few options just in case one pair starts rubbing and causing blisters, or there is a distinct change in terrain. At Badwater in July I wore vaporfly for the first 50 miles and then switched to Endorphin Speed for the next 85. I switched b/c at 50 the course gets into a long section of power hiking up the road and I don't like the walking in vaporfly. I also had a pair of invincibles with me in case my feet started hurting and wanted that extra cushion. Shoes for these long races come down to personal choice which you figure out in the longer training runs. Options can be good but if it's working for you no reason to "fix something if it ain't broke".
OysterPB - unfortunately I had to turn my "Beast" card in to those that earned it by finishing. I will get it back!

Bought a used Garmin watch (Forerunner 245) on EBay a few weeks ago + a flip belt for my phone and keys. Has been a game changer for me. I’ve done a couple of Half’s with phone and keys in hand haha. Kind of obsessed with the watch.

I got a forerunner 745 for Christmas. Way better than my Polar HR monitor and run app on my iphone.

FMTIB50 yes V3 are out and getting good reviews but $79 for speed 2 is hard to pass up.
Oh nice. Thanks for this. I was actually coming here to look for advice/recs on a “tempo” shoe. I’ve slowly been working my way through my running plan, and I’m currently on a 10k plan that has just started to introduce tempo runs & hill repeats. I think I’m just shy of 300 miles on my Nimbus 24’s, which I’m still really enjoying, and while I could still use them just fine for my “speed” days, I’m wanting to add another shoe to the rotation, even if it’s mainly because I just want to buy another shoe. Lol
So far I’ve narrowed it down to the new balance rebel v2, asics magic speed, adidas Takumi sen 8 or now this Saucony endorphin speed 2. I think all of those shoes have big discounts and are about a year old, or more. So does anyone have opinions on these shoes, or another you’d add to the list? I will say $78 for the speed 2’s does seem too good of a deal to pass on. I’ve never run in a Saucony shoe, are they typically true to size?

I’m on my 4th pair of Endorphin Speed 2s. They are probably the best all around shoe I’ve used for training. Know you didn’t specifically mention it, but have you checked out the Endorphin Pro 2? I like those for speed work & for half marathon/10k/5k races. Perhaps they could work well for what you’re looking for in a tempo shoe?
ETA: I do find Saucony runs true to size

Mr. White
I got you beat. I'm currently running in my 7th pair of Endo Speeds (combo of v1 & V2) and have the 8th pair waiting in the box. If you want a shoe that can pretty much handle anything you throw at it you can't go wrong with it, especially at the current prices. I have a pair of Pro V1 that I don't like as much. I see it more as a race day or true up tempo because its noticable firmer than the speed. GF set her marathon PR (3:19) at boston running in the PRO v1. She also has had probably 5 pairs of speeds. Worse case you spend $80 don't like it for running but still have a cool looking pair of shoes that are comfortable to walk around in.
they are true to size but I did go up half size on the pair I haven't run in to get the color i wanted. some may say the toe box leans to narrow side but not much.

Rebel V2 gets rave reviews but the Speed 2 for under $100 is tough to beat. I have a pair of the Speed 1’s, they aren’t my favorite pair of shoes ever but they are very good.

For those not aware (may just be the new guy -- me) you can get 40% off at ASICS if you are a medical professional. Saw a discount on the Novablast 2 and went to get a pair and then learned about the medical discount and got the 3s.
Appears you can also get decent discounts with many other brands as well.
Edit - where are y'all seeing the Speed 2s for less than $100? Can already tell that I'm in trouble when it comes to buying shoes. Going to have get them sent to my office to keep it from my wife because I give her hell for all the shoes and misc. clothes that she buys.

How many miles does everyone put on a pair of shoes? I just recently finished off a pair of Nike Pegasus 38 after 1,028 miles which was by far the most that I ever put on a pair. Before those the most was 720 or so.
Posted on 9/21/22 at 11:57 am to aib799
Nowhere near that. My highest mileage shoe that I still wear are the Clifton 7. I have right under 500 miles and will be replacing them soon. My next highest has 250 and those will make it to maybe 300 before I can those.

I've hit 500 on shoes before, but that was too long, there was pain I ignored for a while. Just switched to new Speed at around 400. The other pair might still be ok, but I got the itch to pull the next ones out of the box. Old ones are the every day shoe now.

Is this a one time use deal?

500 miles unless heavy duty wear and tear occurs (never had a pair of skechers that could handle this mileage).

Dude, I would be looking like a hobo if I put that many miles on a pair of running shoes

Idk, maybe I just put more wear & tear than most. I’m 6’0” 190 lbs, so not exactly a gazelle out there

My understanding is that each individual code is one time use, but that you can get some number of codes per month.
So, I used the code today and that code is now finished, but I believe I can regenerate (?) or reapply and get a second code to get something different. How many times I can do that per month I'm not sure, but I'd assume that they cap it after two or three times per month, or maybe there is a dollar amount that they go by.
Was very easy to apply - took 30 seconds or so and it take maybe 5 minutes for there system to verify the information and send a code.
