I did 41 miles last week, gonna shoot for 46-48 miles this week. I've been below 10 on Training Readiness for over a week now (I'm also "Overreaching" since June 4th as well)

Good times, but yesterday I did an 8 mile run and my HR stayed in a comfortable zone the whole time, so I'm getting there!

4 miles @10:30
A thunderstorm storm was coming in and the air cooled and it was like I could watch my HR drop.

I signed up for a "Death by 5k" here in Oklahoma in September...

1, 5k, every 2.5 hours for 24 hours. Should be a mentally challenging day.

Gambled on my tailwind consumption and bonked hard at the end.

I've got threshold on the menu today. No idea what I'll break the reps into but it's hot as hell so I'm leaning towards the shorter end

I had 10 yesterday - only had a hand cannon. I ran 5 miles away from my car and started getting dehydrated at the 5th mile.

Had to take a pretty long rest at 7.5 miles and 9 to get water because that was the first time I could (ran at a state park and ran away from the running water...)

Lived to fight another day. Don't know if I'll do another 10 miler mid-day again while it's this hot outside. Both of my hamstrings were screaming at me because of my dehydration, I was lucky to come away uninjured yesterday.

I'm at 30 for the week, so depending what I do tomorrow I will either be in the high 40s or low 50s for mileage this week.

A big storm rolled through and cooled things off a little bit

I ended up doing 4 x mile with 2 minutes standing/walking rest. 6:57, 6:54, 6:52, 6:42. With warm up and cool down, 7 total

Any experience running a shorter long run back to back as opposed to a “long” run? trying to decide if maybe I’ll just do back to back 10-12 instead of 16-18 for my long run in prep for upcoming race.
Goggle says it’s a strategy just wondering on effectiveness

Ran 4 today around 3pm, felt like soup out there. Got 8-10 tomorrow, definitely bringing the camel back for that one lol.

8 at 145, chickened out and started at 5am though. Summer is nice, but those 5am runs in winter/early spring when it is still almost pitch black dark are OP.

Went for 5ish today but noticed the high school that i use as a turn around point left the gates to the stadium open, so i did 3 sets of bleachers on a whim. At 130 this afternoon. Motivation made me do the first set, stupidity made me do the rest. Nice and toasty out there today.

The Boston Marathon Will Adjust Qualifying Times from Select Downhill Races

quote:

“Working with data scientists and reviewing applicable results data from 2022 through the present, the BAA has analyzed studies and findings which show that athletes qualifying at courses with at least 1,500 feet (457.2 meters) of net-elevation drop between start and finish receive a substantial time advantage over qualifiers from events with less than 1,500 feet (457.2 meters) net-elevation drop.”

quote:

For courses with 1,500 to 2,999 feet of elevation loss, five minutes will be added to qualifying times. Courses between 3,000 and 5,999 feet of loss will have 10 minutes added. And any time run at a course with more than 6,000 feet of drop will not be eligible.

These changes will start in 2027, pretty crazy. I'm glad they are doing it, but pretty crazy

Well hell I was hoping I could enter and submit that one cheese rolling event held in England to qualify. I guess I will never be able to qualify now.

Thanks man. I googled and got the details.

Love the set up and the event but that would be a hike for me. Looks like a fun race.

The Revel race series, for example, hosts marathons in Salt Lake City, Utah, Big Bear, California, and Las Vegas, Nevada that are designed for fast times. Each race drops over 5,000 feet in elevation from the start to end points. In 2023, 40.5 percent of the 1,828 participants at Revel Big Bear qualified for Boston.

i am guessing the 40.5% is skewed cause people are actively seeking a BQ that run these races but that's still a wild number

Houston/Louisiana and other flat Dixie area races stand to benefit from this
