If that’s what works for you and you feel fine doing it, then stick with it.
If you’re looking to build an aerobic base and add some mileage, I’d slow down by at least a minute per mile and slowly start adding some miles or an extra day that is a longer run.

I second what Jordan says. If you’re in a really hilly area, then I can’t offer any specific advice. I live in Lafayette where it is flat (and hot) as hell

2.5 years and Covid finally got me. Ain’t much…sore throat and a sniffle. Can’t wait to see how my fitness is after its out my system.

Same thing happened to me about two weeks ago. Nothing worse than dry cough and some post-nasal drip. My breathing became abnormal as well but nothing that caused me seek medical attention.
Not running for two weeks really knocked me back to square one though.

I don’t even have a cough, can still smell and taste too. I was convinced it was allergies but wanted to take a test just in case.

Favorite shirts for running in hot arse humid weather? I’m too old to be going skins anymore.
I have a few dri-fit Nike, adidas type shirts that I’ve been using, but they’re still too thick a material without any sort of perforations for breathability.
ETA: I’ve picked a fantastic time of year to get back into running again. I think I had a couple weeks of spring like weather, and now it’s just pain & misery for the next 5-6 months.

Got me in early January. Was able to recover and PR a marathon in March. It did take a good 3 weeks to feel comfortable running at pace for longer duration though.

I made this mistake last year and basically just shut it down and did indoor bike rides until fall
If you don't mind singlets, Nike's miler tank is super lightweight. It's what I use on hot days when I want to keep a shirt on.

Patagonia Capilene Cool Lightweight shirts are awesome.

Thank you both for the recs.
I actually tried the Nike miler shirt the other day, and quite liked the weight and cut of it. Didn’t realize they had a singlet too. Will look into it. Have never worn a singlet before, but give me a few more runs in my regular shirts, and I’ll probably be ready to try anything.
Will also look into the Patagonia capilene shirts. I have a few different pairs of shorts & pants from them, and they hold up well.

Any performance material tank or sleeveless should do. I don't like fabric touching arms for running-based workouts or endurance training.

Any recs on GPS watches? I will only use it for running.
Last I recall, the consensus was the Coros Pace 2?

I go shirtless starting in March. I’ll put a shirt back on when it’s long sleeve weather. When I wear I shirt in the heat I get itchy rashy spots.

Never used Coros but my Garmin Forerunner 245 Music has never let me down

I have a Garmin 245 and have 0 issues with it, but if it died tomorrow I’d probably replace it with a Coros. Mainly because I’m curious, though they’ve signed a lot of big talent recently and I think the entire Believe in the Run crew switched to Coros too. I think they’re legit.

I have a Samsung watch (3), it's fine. Strava works great on it. MapyMyRun sucked on it, glad to be done with that. I switch to nicer watch bands if I'm doing something where I have to wear a belt.

Someone died at the BK half yesterday. I saw him collapsed at the finish line. Early 30s. The conditions were the worst I’ve ever run in. They shouldn’t have let us race but it’s their second biggest event and canceling it would have cost them too much.
Just a good reminder that no run or race is worth your life. Be careful out there this summer. Hydrate hydrate hydrate.

I had a friend who finished within a few minutes of that guy. My friend's HR on Strava was insanely high. Y'all be careful in this heat and humidity. I just finished an "easy" run and look like I jumped in a pool.

My finish line photos just came in and you can see the medics tending to him. Cannot believe they sent us those photos.

I look like I jumped in a pool after every run where it's above 60 degrees. Today was because it was raining - first time it rained during run time since I got the Winflo shield whatever they are, and feet stayed dry and grip was good. Solid 60 bucks I think.
That is terrible about the guy at the BK. Could they make everyone wear monitors or have a way for the watches to share heart data to people tracking that kind of thing? I think my watch detects afib. I'm sure it is a ton of really high HRs, maybe there are specific things to look for outside of that.
