Which metatarsal? I’m getting an mri next week to determine whether I have a stress fracture of the fifth. If so that’s going to sideline me for a while. shite doesn’t heal because of the lack of blood supply. If you actually do have a stress fracture and keep running you’re definitely risking worsening it.

Did the 8K this AM with my bro and nephew. Glad I didn’t pace with my brother because he sucked. My 10 yr old nephew did great. We paced at 7:45/mile. I had to slow down for him at 3.5 miles, but he crushed me on the 300 yd dash to the finish line. Very proud of him since it was his first ever race. Probably left a little out there on my race time, but it was worth it to run with the nephew.

Me and the nephew finished in under 39 mins. My brother barely made it in under 60 mins.

18 at 9:48. I was gassed at mile 15. It’s warm out there.

Yep. I ran a 10k today and it's amazing how much warm weather affects a run.

Got 1/2M PR today, but missed on my NYC qualifying. I blame the suddenly increased temps

to be clear - this is self diagnosed so take it for what it's worth. it feels like there's a bb or piece of gravel embedded just between and behind my right big toe and whatever the next toe is. the past 4 months or so i'll take it easy for a couple weeks and it fades away, then i try running again and it's back. the insoles arrived the other day and seem to be a game changer. lots of arch support and the "metatarsal dome". planning to go run 6m tomorrow, will report back. good luck with the mri

My favorites parts of Scott Jurek’s book was when his friend Dusty would pave for him and give him hell.

due to unexpected trail closures, it wound up being just over 4. trudging at an average pace of 13:08, but the 1st half mile has 500' of gain 6000'-6500'. new insoles seem to be a miracle worker

I had some tough sprints this morning.

3 x 0.66 at 7:04, 1 x 1.25 at 7:44 with 0.25 mi rest intervals

Sprint 1 - 0.66 in 4:36 (6:58/mi pace)
Sprint 2 - 1.25 in 9:12 (7:22/mi pace)
Sprint 3 - 0.66 in 4:35 (6:56/mi pace)
Sprint 4 - 0.66 in 4:33 (6:56/mi pace)

For the rest of the week, I have a 25 mile ride, 8 miles easy (9:54/mi), and a 7-mile tempo (1 easy, 5 at marathon pace (9:09/mi), and 1 easy). I do not know which day I will do what. It depends on when this rain and front move through.

This weekend, I have a half marathon at marathon pace planned. Should I do that or do the 16 miler I missed two weeks ago (9:39/mi with the last 6 miles at marathon pace)?

I don't know if this is the correct answer but if it was me I would forget about the one you missed to weeks ago and just keep hitting the scheduled runs as they are.

That's what I'm thinking, baw. If I get done with the 13.1 and feel like running some more, there will be nothing stopping me.

What's on tap for y'all next year, run bros?

I have a marathon in January.

After that, I plan to do a century ride in the spring.

After that, who knows? I'd like to get back in the gym and lift some, although I don't sleep very well when I lift weights. I'd also think I'd like to run another marathon, I think. I've wanted to do a triathlon for years, but I am not a good swimmer, so that's kind of out of the picture for now.

Daytona 100 is done. 18:25 to finish tied with my GF for 5th overall. She took 2nd place female. We didn't plan on it but ran the entire race together. Official times haven't been posted so not sure what the winning time was.

As far as next year goes it should be Boston but I forgot to register and missed the deadline (whoops). I may sign up for NYC since I have qualifying time for guaranteed entry. Badwater 135 will be the focus.

I got rained out from my ride this morning. I did a slow six (9:54/mi) on the treadmill instead. It looks like I'll be running indoors tomorrow too. Yay.

Fishing a tourney this week. Fished all day and ran 3 miles this evening. It’s super flat down here which is nice. Didn’t push too hard as I was tired already and have to get up early again tomorrow.

7:53
7:42
7:21

Felt good. Just tired. Pushed harder than I thought I could.

Mid 40s and just finally started exercising the last few months. Been running some 10mph one minute intervals on the treadmill.

Should most lean males with above average genetics be capable of running 12mph? Not just for a few seconds, 12mph for a solid minute

I've increased from 6mph to 7,8,9, and now 10. I've done one minute 10mph intervals x5 for 3 days now. With 3min recovery breaks.
