You’ll get back out there. Burt needs some competition.

Tigers win, awesome pics. I guess when you’re doing that kind of race, stopping to take pics isn’t out of the question.

There’s one race I do where I’d love to bring my phone to take pics but i would definitely lose placing if I did.

I only took 2 pictures. They have professional photographers on the course and the medical doctors and other volunteers (about 45 people) also take and share a bunch of pictures of the sights.

Put in 6 miles on Friday and another 4 on Saturday on the NW Arkansas Greenway that runs through Fayetteville. What a cool course. Great way to keep in shape and see the city at the same time. Nice resource.

I got in a couple of great runs this weekend, a 8-mile LT run and a 12 Mile progression run. The lactate threshold training is paying off. My hip flexors screaming at me this morning, but I get a day of rest today.

Ran a mile back to my vehicle after leaving Bryant Denny on Saturday night. Efficient way to beat the traffic.

Got in a quick 2 mile test run in my new Hoka Rincons. It will definitely be an adjustment due to the large sole feel, but once I got through the first mile it started to feel more fluid.

I just need to bump up a size in socks. I noticed yesterday walking in them that my right foot was tingling and pretty uncomfortable. I put on a dress sock and the problem stopped.

I am essentially repeating my schedule for last week except that I started this week with an EZ run and moved my speed work to Wednesday and LT work to Saturday. I'm also decreasing my rest intervals a little between 800s this week.

After resting my calf for two days, got back out and did 5.5 of intervals today per my plan. The reduced mileage is nice but I wanted to keep going.

Did the 50k in NOLA last Saturday. First ultra...don't think I will be doing that again unless on a trail. Took around 5:50, my IT band blew up around mile 23 or so.

Im not 100% on the Hokas just yet. I still think I need more of a stability shoe. The sole feels good but I cant "feel" the ground, and I feel like the thin mesh upper accentuates my feet falling inward. They just dont feel like THE shoe

The girl at the shoe store swore she never saw me overpronating when walking and running on the treadmill, but my shite kickers say different

How old are those ariats?

Had a new experience today. Part of a lunch run I’ve been doing has me going out in the country for a bit. Lots of loose dogs. Mostly just bark at me but today one beast in particular was really upset that I ran by and tried to take a few chomps. He hung with me for about 300m. Took a few bite attempts at my right calf and I finally lost him. Hate to kick at them because I love dogs.

made 4:03 pace and 14.8 MPH.

After my run this morning I only have a 2 mile shakeout before the marathon. My scheduled runs have been positive, even if I thought I was struggling at times.

I'm trying not to think too much about Sunday, so these next two days will certainly be a test of my mental toughness. I'll also try my best to rest my body and not overeat.

On the plus side I was able to pick up a used Forerunner 35 in good condition for $50. Completed 2 runs with it and I enjoy all of the extra data. I really like the ability to set a virtual pace and have it alert me of my pace after every completed mile.

Thinking about you Baws running and racing in this gorgeous weather. Rehab is going well, I’ve about grown out this local PT shop I’m going to and will be transitioning to a high level gait rehab soon.

I go back mid November for my head/neck scans and the hope is that the carotid dissection will be healed and I’ll be given the green light to run among other things.

Good luck with the recovery, TigeRoots!

My lumbar MRI revealed one herniated disc, which I knew about, and a second herniated disc, which was news to me. But good news is no nerve impingement so not what is causing my stiffness and inflexibility in left leg. Oh well, I guess I just need to stretch more.

The rest of my 100,000 mile check up revealed some high blood pressure, so I am taking an ARB to get it down. After 3 days of taking it, today my five mile run showed an average heart rate 25 bpm lower than normal with nothing higher than 136. Weird thing is I felt great during the run and ran it fast for me. Will have to watch that. Would hate for medication to slow my heart rate too much and affect my exercise.

Gonna do an easy 5 shake today out before my 5k tomorrow. See if I can get a top 5. Good luck to everyone racing this weekend. It going to be the perfect weather for it.

44 and raining here. Perfect PR weather I promise. Windy though, so we’ll see. Good luck!

Ran another dumb race. Thought I was a half mile further than I was an made a move with the closing hill a mile out and paid for it. Run smarter and I’m ten seconds faster IMO. Damn. Hit my goal of sub 17 though.
