I try to stick with 30-45 seconds slower, but in reality it ends up being 1:30-1:45 slower. My best Half is 1:49 (8:23/mi). My training runs leading up to that were all in the 9:50-10:30 range. I only had one run (9.5 mi) at a 9:30 pace.

My marathon training has me running around the 10:00 - 10:30 pace for long runs. I have no intention of being anywhere near 8:23, but I'm hoping adrenaline and rested legs will get me somewhere in the 9:30 range.

Kballa6,

That makes me much more confident about my 1:55 goal at Houston Half in a couple weeks. I just did 12 @ 9:17 and got faster on last 4. My previous best half is 1:56:45.

You can do it. I only did minor speedwork leading up to that race as well. I started doing Fartleks once a week about 2 months out, but that's it.

That course is not hard but not easy. Those elevation changes on Allen Pkwy hurt during the last 2 miles. The Aramco Houston Half is a lot better course as you only have to deal with AP once and it's maybe one hill.

Got back in the ring this morning after almost 2 weeks with some track action.

200, 400, 800, 1000, 1200

Felt pretty good, wore a compression sleeve on my right knee that probably helped more mentally than physically.

Knee is talking to me a little bit this morning after the run but not too bad.

I will probably do a slow paced recovery run tomorrow morning as suggested earlier in this thread.

1k club achieved!

Wish it had happened in September but getting it before October is over to make it more than 100 a month is a win.

Decent strength workout, 3x3 4min jogging recovery 18 min per set thereabouts. Felt a little harder than it should have but will be there for when I think I can’t go any further come race time. Wind was a factor which is a bummer but overall was a decent gut check at least.

I can't believe it's been 4 years since I raced my last Marathon. I definitely need to enter one next fall. I want to PR at least one 5K and one Half before then, though. I don't expect to PR my next 5K in November/December, but I've laid down a really nice foundation for early Spring. I just have to stay consistent.

I did my 800m repeats in sustained 20 mph winds with gusts of 30+ on Tuesday. That crap was frustrating. I should be used to it by now having lived in Kansas all these years, but it still sucks. I prefer running in single digit temps with light winds to dealing with high winds in 60-degree temps.

Great job man. We have a small number of 2,000+ mile guys on here. I mean, get a life guys. Let someone else top that leaderboard for once.

*as long as we’re pulling legs*

Ain’t no extra time for those folks, they’re doing ten in the time it takes you to do four, Mr. Comfort Zone.

So you think I'm faster than the times I run?!

My one year TD Strava anniversary was this week I believe. My two year running anniversary is a month and a half away on December the first. Going to celebrate with the Freedom Frosty ll: Electric Boogaloo. Good luck to all the race warriors today.

No race today but did get a glorious 8 miles in this morning at a moderate pace.

Still just trying to build base in case I feel the 50k in January is a go.

Did my first ever 25k trail race today. Hardest thing I've ever done athletically.

I'm going to bed.

Tapering now and was supposed to do 10 today. Ended up with 11. My right calf is really bothering me though. I think I overdid it with my intervals on Wednesday after my 23 mi run. It has bothered me since my run yesterday morning. Taking a couple days off to rest it and see how it feels on Tuesday.

I did a long 2 hour nap after my 25k. It was pretty solid. Nice work.

I only fell once. It was a fall forward, complete wipeout. But no injuries and no blood, so I was good.

Idk if trail racing ultras are for me. I think I prefer the road.

I love hiking though.
