I'll be putting in my last true long run this weekend before starting to taper toward my half. Most important goal of this one is getting the entire run in without stopping to piss. About to bump up my electrolyte consumption in hopes it keeps liquids from running through me so quickly and easily.

I’ll be in wave 4 in the blue corral with all the old, slow people like me. Taking the ferry at 7am.

Man, half the contributors on this thread get to run NY. I tried like hell and couldn’t get in. I’m very jealous of you all. I mean screw Boston, I want New York! Congratulations everyone and I hope you all have a great time and race.

You never know, you could pass me. I'll be rocking some form of LSU gear and taking my time. I may never get to run it again so I'm going to take it slow and enjoy it.

The lottery is a crap shoot. Did you try for time qualifications? I find it interesting that all people talk about is trying to time qualify for Boston when NYC standard is 12 minutes faster. Male 40-44 Boston 3:10 NYC 2:58

I had LSU gear on when I ran it in 2017. Got quite a few geaux tigers along the way. Might do it again this year but haven’t decided. It is a cool race. Hope we have great weather.

My first time qualification was on the edge of the standard my second was too late for the cut off (both halfs). That entry rolled over into the lottery and then after that I entered a few contests. Nothing.

Doesn’t matter I can sleepwalk a 3 hour marathon so I should qualify when I actually race one in November on a USTF cert. course. If they won’t take me on time this next year, I’ll just stop trying.

Hopefully you live on the second half of the route. That would be a cool boost for the struggles I’m expecting.

I ran NYC in 2011. It was the day after the Game of the Century. That was an early wake up call after staying up half the night being pumped up about LSU's (last) win over Bama. And I probably walked 10 miles that day.

Suffice it to say, it was not my best marathon. Ran it in 4:03:58 when I was shooting for sub-3:30. I cramped at mile 16 and couldn't shake it. Lots of shuffling over those last 10 miles.

if you're looking for a cheaper replacement. one of my squads runs with this and just does as fine as more expensive ones.

Thanks. I was actually looking at the FR35, I used to had a 250. It looks like the 35 has all of the running features of the vivoactive without some of the unnecessary bells and whistles for half the price.

INEOS159 tomorrow. Y’all think he’ll get it done? Also, based on pictures of Kipchoge’s shoes, next gen Next% may feature air pockets in the forefoot.

I'll post back with my race day attire when we get closer for you to keep an eye out. With a 10:30 start time, I should be at mile 18 around 1:20. Thinking of just going with my white LSU Hypercool shirt with some black shorts.

Good luck to all the marathon and other racers this weekend!
Met with my general orthopedic earlier this week about my left leg weakness. At first he though it might be a hip issue, not the back. I know several (former) runners my age who've undergone hip replacements recently, so as soon as he was out of the room I was googling "running after hip replacement surgery." LOL. But then the xrays came back clear for the hip, so next week I have a lumbar MRI. Joy.
Got in a 5.5 mile run, a 4 mile brisk walk and an 11 mile cycle this week. Tomorrow marks our first cool day of fall, so I plan to run 6.

Boston>>>>>>> New York and it's not even close

Boston takes over the entire city and is part of the community fabric. New York is so big the race barely makes a blip. Also the NY course is very meh until the last 5 miles.

I respect that for sure. I prefer New York as a destination over Boston which is the reason I want to race it more. New York is one of my favorite places so for me, it’s NYC.

So what’s the next race the fastest poster on the board by results doing? Pretty sure your 55min ten miler is still the most impressive time posted. Maybe Pedro’s mid 16 5k but I’ll stand by it.

Well I have gotten zero runs in since Friday, my knee is still bothering me just walking around.

I think I came out of the gate swinging too hard. I went from barely running (3mi 2 or 3 x per week) to full blast overnight 4 x 5 times per week with heavy intervals, track speed work, etc.

I ordered a knee compression sleeve to see if that will help. I will be back from vacation Saturday night and will try to get back in the game with a few easy miles on Sunday.

Yall keep up the killer work

I’m very sorry to hear that. I’ll admit that the 10 percent rule that I preach is mostly garbage especially if you’re already running but there is some credence to easing into training. Get better and hope to see you get back out there soon.
