I will say Corals are super docile and I’m pretty sure you could step over one and not phase it. Not recommending that, they’re just a passive snake.

They stand out a lot more than rattlesnakes or copperheads. The only thing that freaked me out is I ran by that spot about 6:15 in the complete dark yesterday morning and they found it at about 6:40.

I was looking forward to running this evening with the cooler weather, but I've been up since 3 am because I cannot breathe and I feel like I have a fat man sitting on my chest.

I blame kids for bringing this shite into my house.

Gets better when they’re older for you and them.

We were very particular about letting our kids get exposed to stuff at a younger age. Not like sticking them in front of people with the flu.

We had a lot of sickness till they were about 6 or 7 but they never get sick these days.

Been really slacking lately, but got up this morning and ran 5 before work. Gonna try to keep up the morning runs if I can drag my lazy arse out of bed.

Gearing up for my final long run before NYC this weekend. Plan shows 6 mi w/Intervals tomorrow, followed by 3 straight days of 3 miles, and then 23. Planning to run this Sunday morning. I know it's going to be slow, but I'd like to keep at least a 10:30 pace.

I plan to. Won't be setting any PRs, but that's OK. I'm sure we'll figure out when/where to meet as a group in the coming weeks.

I think I’ve figured out the plan for my marathon. Going to use the 10/10/10 method. First 10 miles will be about 5-10 seconds slower than marathon pace. Next 10 will be at marathon pace and then I’m gonna whip that llama’s arse for the last 10k if I can. Had a good strength run during some pretty bad weather this weekend and I’m ready. Also, know that I have no reason to run that distance when training for a marathon again. Will cap at 22 for the foreseeable future.

I know you are leaps and bounds a better runner than I, but I've been doing something similar on my long runs.

I start out somewhere between 10:20-10:40, then when I get to a specific point I start to pick up the pace to at or under 10:00, and the final mileage I push hard. My 18 miler looked like this:

Miles 1-10 @ 10:20-10:40
11-17 @ 10-10:15
18 just sucked

Tried my 20 miler like this but waited until mile 14 to pick up the pace. Miles 14-20 were 10:30, 9:52, 9:54, 10:19, 9:31, 10:00, 9:35.

Kball

Also training for NYC did 8 miles intervals yesterday. Thank God it was cooler. Going to do my last long one (20) on Friday then it’s taper time.

Not better. Just different goals. Some of my longer runs are what is called a fast finish long run. Go out easy, pick it up to marathon pace, and finish at 10k or faster. It’s helpful in getting a good feeling for my paces and works as a gut check or strength exercise.

Awesome! Was wondering if anyone here was running NYC as well. What Wave/Corral are you in? I'm Blue Wave 3 Corral D. Taking the 6:00 am bus from the library.

Is anyone on this thread running the Marine Corps Marathon in DC at the end of the month? Or have experience running the race?

I'm not running but will be out for support and working aid station.

I call those progression runs. All the same thing just different terminology.

On a side note, I broke my freaking Garmin watch. I must have banged it against a rail or wall at the Chiefs game. It has a hairline crack down the middle of the screen, and now only one side of the touch screen still works.

i did a progression run with a slower runner today (no insult to him) and it felt really good to start slower and push it at the end. i don't normally do those on purpose, but it was nice.

if you're looking for a cheaper replacement. one of my squads runs with this and just does as fine as more expensive ones.
