I’ve kept a sub 8 pace for 8 miles once. It was awful.

I know that’s no biggie for some but brutal to me.

Only time I've done this in a race. Ran a half in 1:42:30 (7:49). Think I did it for 5 miles in training once.

Today: rest day

Unless it's flat and ideal weather, it's miserable for me too.

just got back to Atlanta and going to get back into it tonight. I need to set some goals. Some form of marathon. Another tough trail run. And sub-20 min Winship 5K (it has two nasty hills so that's tough for me) in October.

Got my planned 4 in today at high noon. Didn’t really have a plan as far as pace, just paid attention to my gait, form, etc. Of course the heat was brutal, but most of us know that already. I guess my HR Max isn’t 183 after all. Followed by Yoga, stretching... and a Spindletap, since no running tomorrow. First Craft Beer I’ve had in months. Week one of Higdon Half training complete.

M: OFF
Tues: 7 (treadmill)
Wed: 8 (road)
Thurs: 7 (treadmill)
Fri: 30 min bike, 20 min bodyweight
Sat: 13 (grass on lakefront)
Sun: 8 (treadmill) 10 min core

Total: 43 miles

Next week is a dropdown week.

Again, most was easy. Did a few hard miles sprinkled throughout the week. Feeling healthy, so may add a few fartlek intervals after rest week.

Signed up for the FATS 50k, so now it's official

Saturday: 3 miles, then 2 miles of walking (drinking and late nights spoiled my planned 6 mile run). Shoulders and abs in the gym
Sunday: 1 hour spin on the bike
Today: 30 minute run at lunch. Leg day in the gym tonight.
Tomorrow: Pool day.

Signed up for the Houston Marathon (1/20) today. Need to sign up for the Texas Ironman 70.3 (4/7), but that's too much money to spend in one day on races when I'm struggling to run 10k

Lots of air squats and assault bike work yesterday. My legs are shot.

Doing more 400 m sprints and weighted lunges this afternoon.

7 day totals:

Wed: 5 Miles
Fri: 4 Miles
Sat: 10.25 Miles
Monday: 3.8 Miles (Race Pace)

Assuming things go right, going to try and make the jump to half marathon distance this weekend. First time running that distance in over 5 years.
