Yeah, congratulations man!

There was some sketchy finishes today in the HE Marathon. Some local runners finishing in the top ten today I've never heard of and they all missed the 20 mile mat.

Alright so I am about done with this Polar M430 watch. It will not stay connected to Bluetooth on my phone, in order to transfer my data. I have to fight with it connect/reconnect/on/off/etc.. for minutes at a time and I'm tired of it. I've researched the new Polar Vantage V/M, but it seems like they have the same issue as well as not providing the accuracy of HR or GPS that the M430 has.

I really didn't want to go Garmin and change my whole infrastructure from Polar, but may not have an option. Do Garmins automatically transfer the data to Strava after a run or do you have to do it manually like Polar? Like I said, this is my only complaint of the M430, but it's huge for me.

Are Garmin's fairly accurate on HR? I've always heard Polar is better. Anybody recommend a model? I don't need anything too outlandish. The normal running metrics and smart notifications would be nice.

I know we've discussed watches a good bit here, but really starting to up the search now.

I just joined Strava in January, and my Garmin automatically transfers the data.

I don't know this one, because I've never used one of their HR monitor features.

I've had the 230 for 3 years now, and wear it pretty much constantly other than taking it off to charge every 10th day or so. I'm completely happy with it.

This is what I'm gathering. Never worn a chest strap, so wouldn't look forward to that and that's one more thing to keep up with. Kinda sums up where I'm at.

Polar - Accurate wrist HR/Shitty sync
Garmin - Shitty wrist HR/Auto sync

Also Polar goes haywire with pace and I guess GPS when I'm running under trees, etc. Any issues with Garmin here?

Had the 70.3 yesterday. Good swim, bad bike(wind was killer), good running until the monsoon hit and they made people shelter in place and end up cancelling the rest of the event. So I officially went 63.2. Unofficially I went about 67.5 until they physically removed me from the course.

Kind of sucks because I don't consider myself a strong runner. It's a 3 loop course and I had gas in the tank for the last lap. I think I was holding about 8:15 and was ready to go. Had nutrition in place and everything and was targeting 1:45 half.

The organizers were right though. Lightning everywhere, strong winds blew over barriers, aide stations. it was pretty hectic.

Nice job dude! Yeah that weather was brutal. What shitty timing of that system to affect y'all like that.

Congrats! Saw the pics. Looked like the only reasonable decision. Not safe for anyone to be out there, especially volunteers.

Ran Cherry Blossom 10 miler yesterday. Perfect conditions. Went out way too fast, but able to hold it together for 56 high which is a PR. Gearing up for 70.3s in late April and May so good to get some hard racing in after dealing with a hip injury all winter.

i run trails with my Garmin all the time and I'm under trees and cliffs for 90% of my run.

i'd say once or twice a year my garmin freaks out and shows something outlandish on a run, but it's pretty rare.

last week i was not under trees and it showed me crossing i35 and making a weird loop in an industrial park.

We all knew it was coming it was just a matter of when. I was at the back of the swim waves. I think I was 56 minutes back. All I needed to be was swim wave 5 or sooner.

A couple of buddies got to finish but I'm not sure how they will count it because I know the leader of the 55-59 age group was behind me.

Which ones?

I'm hanging up the tri bike for the season and on to mountain bike season with a little road riding. Start a little trail running too. Xterra season now.

I've always heard that any wrist based HR monitor was shitty. Optical just isn't as accurate. My Garmin 920xt has wireless functionality, so as soon as I walk in the house, it uploads my data to Strava/Garmin/TrainingPeaks. Its a nice feature.
