Good deal, leaning Forerunner 235 at the moment.
I have the 235. I wear it all the time. Meets all of my running needs. Also has some smart watch capabilities. A good all-around watch.
I bought mine refurbished on Amazon a long while back. Got it cheaper that way and haven't had a single issue.

Yup yup!
I didn't realize the race started on Poydras but ended near City Park, I thought it was and out and back to finish near the Dome/Poydras. Trying to decide which end to park on now. There are shuttles at each end. If there is a bag drop at the finish, I will park there and shuttle to the start. Really don't wanna carry my phone.

ditto. other than the semiannual gps goofup it's been great for a refurb. charge it once a week and a half usually, but mine is a 230 not a 235 with HR. it has been fading a bit faster as of late, but not enough to look at another one for a while.
probably get the Garmin Instinct next when this one dies

I usually park at start and just shuttle back after but I run, but I like having my phone for music

if anybody wants to go show off on the OTL. now is the time.

Yes. The initial question is beyond stupid but I’m impressed with the humility of most posters.
Definitely saw more than a couple of running threaders in there.

Apparently the OT thinks it’s super hard to walk a 7 hour marathon after a year of training

I think the hardest part of the equation most of those are forgetting is that you still have to qualify (barring a charity runner)
5k over the bridge here in Houma, 2 bridge climbs
23:05 for a 7:27/ mile pace
New PR for that route for me

6 miler yesterday and 4 mile mid day progression run tells me I’m not in Summer shape HR wise and it was only around 85F feels like and 12-15 mph wind for both runs. Not good.

No shite huh. Planned to work my way down to 6:40 today, but wasn’t happening. I think the wind hurts me more than the heat, but the combination is brutal. Ah well, super easy tomorrow.

That’s what today’s run is going to look like. Tomorrow’s run will be similar but with 25-40mph wind. Hooray!

Took everybody's advice a couple weeks ago so my 13 mile training run Sunday will be at a race.
I am looking to do two things since I am 5 weeks out from my half marathon.
1. Run with 2:00:00 pace group for a bit to get a feel for consistent pacing.
2. Improve my HR & times in miles 11-13.1 compared to The Woodlands Half 6 weeks ago.
The Arkansas brain trust told me to up my miles over the last 6 weeks and I have went from 19.5 to 32.5 mpw so I'm excited to see if I feel better at mile 8 when I cracked mentally and physically.

Bravo. Best of luck, we’ll be cheering you! I really think you’ll see a difference on the back half of that 13.1. Please keep us posted.
Today was stupid. Ambient temp turned out to be 88 according to my car, no telling what the index is. Heart rate average was 175 over 7 per mile pace. To put that into context it was 10 less during my last half and my GAP was 6:10. I tried to hydrate in prep for this day but my body kept pissing it out then wouldn’t sweat until I got indoors. Time to move...

Yeah, glad to see it isn’t just me. This shite sucks already and it’s only the beginning of April.
