I'd go with:
-1 Medicine Ball
-1 Kettlebell
-1 Sandbag
-TRX, Rings, something like this
All 3 weighted implements above would be great for goblet/front squats, and you can get impressively strong with sandbags.
FWIW, I have a 13yr old and am frequently pissed off catching an adult checking her out. Normal decent dudes without teenage daughters don't get this.

Thanks, since so many recommended it I'll check out the trx stuff some more tonight.

You didn't really say, but if she cares about sports performance, you can do really great things with the TRX. TRX has some of the most effective core exercises I've found.
The one area a non-barbell setup has problems is with legs. The kettlebell recommendation can help with that for split squats, goblet squats and swings.

I agree with everything 777 said. For bodyweight routines I’d also look into the Shred app. It’s around 9 bucks a month and I use it nearly everyday. (Though I use it for 20 mins of conditioning/activation before I lift).

She runs track and cheers, not really a sports type.

Some training will really help with both.
Personally, I'd go with TRX and a few kettlebells relative to that. The KB's will help with leg training and for track and cheerleading, upper body bulk is counterproductive. Bodyweight TRX training for upper body will be good for those goals, IMO.

Then the TRX, kettlebell, and considering she does cheer, maybe a plyobox. Doesn’t need to be a huge one. Could build one if you really want.

I agree with this. If you aren’t going to a group class with her, I wouldn’t send her alone.
Would start with a few kettlebells over a barbell.
Medicine or a slam ball type thing would be great too.
TRX too. Maybe a jump rope or some battle ropes.
Have her be able to control her body weight for reps. Think pull ups, push ups, squats. Then go from there with the free weights

Get her a sandbag. Very versatile.

13 and 16 are a little different. If you aren't comfortable sending your 16 year old kid to a crossfit gym with like 15 other people then that's your issue, not theirs.

Get her a pair of the powerblock sport adjustable dumbbells and glute bands
I don’t think barbell work for a young 100lb female is ideal

Shes 15 right now and a little naive. Shes not wise to the ways of some men yet. She thinks everyone is nice and sweet even though shes well aware of the dangers of the world.
Not everyone matures at the same age.

Wish I could agree with you but I’ve heard enough comments in my gym to feel uneasy about recommending that.
16yrs old is even worse cause these young ladies are starting to develop. And honestly it’s hard to tell there age. A guy in my gym a few weeks ago nudged me to check out this girls hard nipples not knowing she was a high school SR, for example.
There’s definitely a locker room type culture and it’s hard to break The testosterone controlled human nature of men.
I saw you posting in that beach thread yesterday. Dudes saying the go to the beach just to check out women, this is no different

Well watched a video on trx and sent it to her and she seemed really excited about it. Looked less complicated watching the video vs pics I saw. So probably gonna go with that for her Bday. If she uses it alot I'll look into some other stuff for christmas.
Any reason to spend $40 dollars on the ceiling x mount... or just buy a heavy duty eye hook.

While I agree, I also couldn't imagine checking out a 16-year-old, also only have all boys so maybe I don't get it.
Although I think that would probably be the best option for his kid I do understand reluctance even if it is based on insecurities on his part.
Given the situation a nice silly mounted pull-up bar, either a set of gymnastic rings which would probably be best or a TRX, and some kettlebells would do her wonders. Add in some jump rope and a plyo box and you have the start of something great with the right programming. Later add in a sandbag and you are set.

There are really no situations where barbell work is not ideal

what insecurities?
Cause I'd rather my daughter be able to work out without being googled and possibly hit on by old dudes when she may not even realize its happening? Maybe you dont look at 16 year olds.. but there are plenty of guys that do... just go over to the OT and youll find plenty.
