I’ll start...

The neck press aka guillotine press is better for chest development than the bench press.

I think that’s actually a pretty mainstream opinion. I remember reading that on t-nation about 10-15 years ago.

If you shoulders can take it, maybe.

For chest development, weighted pushups do more for me than anything else.

I think dumbbell flys and the incline press are pointless.

Any type of fly, really. Ring flys too.

ETA: cross cable flys and resistance band flys are great imo. I shouldn’t have said any type. I was just thinking of dumbbell and rings

I think they are great

So I’ll edit my previous post. Thanks

Deadlifts-as-conditioning is pure stupidity

Calories in/out is the only determining factor in whether you gain or lose weight (see twinkie diet)

I think the thing with dumbbell flys is that people never focus on doing the negative perfectly.

I just don’t see why you really need heavy weight to do it

You really don’t need heavy for flys. I always looked at flys like they were more meant for pump type training.

Here's one that I got downvotes for a while back, so I figure it's unpopular.

If I had to pick one single exercise, it would be farmers walks.

Why do you see incline press as pointless?

Wtf? Incline is way better than bench for chest development especially using dbs. And ring flyes are the best exercise other than find pushups to build the chest. The readings on stimulation is crazy.

Muscles grow when out into the stitched position and loaded in that position. Rong flyes is essentially the perfect exercise.

it is an unpopular opinion thread. I know what the studies say but I just don’t feel it. Bench press and decline press I enjoy. Ring flys I do but I don’t really feel the difference between those and RTO ring pushup variations

Here's another unpopular opinion.

For sports/athletic performance training, you don't need barbell deadlifts. In fact, the time spent teaching form is probably counterproductive and there are better options.

I always thought beginners should do 1-3 months on machines before they switch over to free weights.
