Anyone run the 10K? Yeah, I had the box for the half marathon checked during registration but too much sand, so I went for the 10k. Weather wasn't bad on Saturday.

Honestly, I see no point in running really long distances. I have no desire to look like I’m starving all the time.
Also, for men .... it lowers testosterone. Not what I’m looking for.

Is this true?

According to the interwebz, for what that’s worth, if you run extreme distances over a long period of time you can lower your testosterone levels. Like training for multiple marathons or an ultramarathon. Training for a half or even a marathon probably doesn’t cause any problems.
Anecdotal evidence: I’m running now more than I ever have (1/2 marathons in October and December, with ones in February and April to go) and I have no probs related to T levels-and my recent labs say the same. And I’m in my 40’s.
And you no doubt know that George is a troll.

It’s not a troll. I’d rather lift and sprint than do anything long distance. It’s a waste of time.
If you want to look like a Nigerian distance runner then go for it, it’s just not my thing.

This thread was started about a 10k. Do you know how far a 10k is? Do you consider that a long distance? Is that a distance that Nigerians are known for running?

I weight around 192, give or take and if you didn't run it.... then go bug someone else.

Sorry you’re so mad bro. Didn’t mean to rustle your jimmies, skinny man.

Not sure where you get the mad part from or the skinny part. Sorry you and your jimmies can't run 6.2 miles.... but keep trying youngster.

Pretty obviously not mad. Just asking simple questions. You’re the one that made an unsupported statement about testosterone levels in a thread about a 10k. Just trying to figure out what you really know about running.

Okay then go lift and sprint and don’t post in running threads.

Not the case at all, especially not for everyone running a 10k. You know a 10k is not long distance right? You also know it’s possible to routinely train for and run half and full marathons while lifting weights? Don’t be willfully ignorant.

100% chance you are overweight

10k is barely more than 6 miles. You need to get in better shape bro.

Very few average marathoners are ever going to look like a...well....Nigeria has never been known for distance runners so let's say a Kenyan distance runner. You have to already have a thin build to get that emaciated look from distance running. Yes, I used to have that look in my youth when I was competing in track and CC in college and believe me, my testosterone was raging.

A 10k isn't a long distance.

Really sad you consider 10k a long distance. You do know you can be stocky and still run 100+ miles a month don't you?
