Is there anything more annoying at the gym than throwing weights

Do guys think they’re cool throwing weights and grunting loudly? Gotta be the top of my pet peeve for gyms

I could go on for hours with all the bullshite people do at the gym, but I’ll start with these:
People on their phones for an extended amount of time while “using” a machine or the equipment.
People who set up their cameras in the middle of walkways or just in the way of other equipment so they can video themselves.
People who “workout” in a small group and all crowd around the same bench or squat rack and mostly just talk while you’re next to them.
People who ask how many sets do you have left then stand directly next to you the whole time while they wait.
People who don’t rack the weights after using them or they just put shite back not in the right spot.

For these reasons i now work out almost exclusively in the weight room at the high school I work at. After athletics leaves it’s all mine. Plus, I get to play my own music, as loud as I want to.

The hogging a machine while they scroll on the phone for 10 minutes between sets eats at me. I may get perturbed with some of the ones you mentioned and other things but the phone makes me rage.

I get more aggravated by the idiots setting up the tripods and constantly filming themselves than someone who is training hard and lets out the occasional grunt.

counterpoint - occasionally I set up tripod and film myself to check / improve form. I do not post these videos online ever.
I grunt loudly when I lift heavy, I feel like more people should but they aren't putting forth enough effort for grunts to come out...

grunting occurs naturally when lifting heavy and exerting alot of effort, sorry you dont know how to do that
throwing/dropping heavy dumbbells is standard operating procedure when you are dealing with big ones.. sorry you dont do that either

Yes. Lots of things.
Tossing weights and grunting are pretty far down the list IMO
Or maybe I'm just used to it as I've worked out in powerlifting gyms and its a pretty common thing

Standing right in front of the dumbbells to do your exercise is an easy #1

People bringing dumbbells to the other side of the gym to workout instead of racking them between sets

Nah, man.
I use the biggest ones they got.
When I'm done with my set, they are either lowered softly and quietly to the ground if I'm using them again, or I carry them back to the rack.
If "the big ones" are so heavy for you that you can't place them down nicely, they're too heavy for you and you shouldn't be trying to ego lift "the big ones". Maybe go with "the medium ones" until you're actually strong enough for "the big ones".

Grunting is a little annoying but the dropping weights much worse. It may not be the worst thing in gyms but it’s up there.
I think people generally get annoyed at things other people do but make excuses or deflect to other things if it’s something they do.

Guys with their really big headphones in that will just randomly start singing, very off key, whatever song they are listening too. Your shitty bro country song sucks and you can't sing. I don't want to listen to that crap.

let me drum up some Ronnie Coleman videos of him gently placing them on the ground... oh wait thats not what he did.

I could have told you this would be your argument, because this is exactly the problem with kids these days. They watch a Ronnie Coleman youtube video and for some reason think their 6'0" 180 lbs arse can start doing Ronnie Coleman shite in the gym cause hey that's what Ronnie did so it must be alright. So the next time they're in the gym, which is like the 4th time ever, they start screaming 'yeh buddy' between sets and throwing weights on the ground.
Let's throw some qualifiers in here then.
If you are, or look like, Ronnie Coleman, you may do whatever the hell you want with your weights.
If you are not, and don't look anything like, Ronnie Coleman, you set your weights down like a normal person that isn't incline DB pressing 160's.
Your tossing the 80's to the side after you cranked out 8 reps is not the same as the best bodybuilder of all time tossing 160's to the side because it's literally dangerous to try to bring that back in.
I bet your skinny arse likes to spread the plates ever so far apart on the barbell so they rattle around just like in the 'Pumping Iron' documentary too, huh? You ol' gym rat, you.

That wouldn't go the way you want it to go.

Maybe they're too weak and need one of the girls from the staff to help them.

This, except they chit chat while tying up a machine and not doing any actual exercises.
