Do you let yourself slide a little bit? Trying to be strict this year but damn it’s hard!

Enjoy the holidays. You have to enjoy life. Use it as an opportunity to bulk. Had turkey and cornbread stuffing yesterday? Go bend some fricking bars today.

What Deaf said. If you’re not some competition level bodybuilder, a meal or two here and there isn’t going to break you. Just try to be conscious of what you’re eating a offset it with a couple of lighter days when you can. Calorie intake over a week-long period is more important than day-to-day intake IMO

You only live once. Enjoy it.

I'll go on a 10 mile run the next day.

Work hard all year and enjoy yourself over the holidays. Life is too short. Weight gained from temporary enjoyment comes off easy I've found.

ETA: I do try to think about my portions ... try But I'm not skipping delicious foods that aren't normally part of my every day diet this time of year.

I do the best I can, but on Thanksgiving and Christmas all bets are off. I once ate a whole rum cake by myself just because I could.

70s Big used to have a Thanksgiving day contest to see who could gain the most weight in 24 hours.

I used to limit what I ate when I was younger but why does it matter anymore?

Splurge for one day, not the entire week or month.

I go from 1-2 cheat days per week to 1-2 days per week where I don't drink heavily and eat pies.

The actual holiday meals themselves I don't track but I do follow some basic principles - only one plate, half of the plate should be lean-ish protein, and the other half is whatever I want. As for drinking, generally find it's not worth more than 2-3.

Outside of the holiday meals themselves I track macros.

Doing that, I managed to actually lose weight through the holidays last year. This year my goal is just to maintain.

I developed this plan because I don't have "just one day" for the holidays. I have 2-3 for my own family, generally one for friends, and 1-2 for in-laws. I can't just chalk it up to one or even two bad day(s).

I try to stick to what I'm doing other than social stuff. When I spend Thanksgiving or Christmas with family, I don't want to be the weirdo eating out of tupperware.

The rest of my meals, I eat healthy. I don't stress over the times I don't follow a plan. Being mostly on track seems to do it for me.

Thanksgiving day, Christmas Eve, and New Years Eve I accept that those are full cheat days. My policy is I will eat whatever I want in whatever quantities I want, then skip the scale for the next week while my body mitigates the damage.
