Any OT runners out there ever have similar probs? I usually crank out about a mile or 2 every day and have been doing so for years but the calluses and bunions are beginning to wreck me. I've seen on a few forums where people put vaseline on their feet to help with friction but I haven't tried it.

I'm mostly retired from long distance stuff but used to do them a lot. Now I'll do a 5K from time to time but my short distance game is all I can really handle nowadays.

I second the walking comment.

Walking is just as good for you as running, and less stressful on the body. Only drawback is it takes a lot longer.

Need the right shoes. Got to Varsity and get fitted. I had all kinds of issues until I found the right shoe. Brooks are the best for me. No more joint pain.

That sounds awful

Try Leukotape.

Moisture-proof and long lasting. It prevents friction and moisture that would otherwise cause problems.

I used it for long-distance hiking and never had problems.

This. Find the nearest store to you that specializes in running shoes and other gear for runners/triathletes. Have someone there knowledgeable analyze your foot and the way you plant when walking/jogging. They should be able to find you something that helps.

You have to spend money on good shoes and socks. You have to replace the shoes every six months or so.

Podiatrists are not real doctors, I worked at a specialty running store for a long time and the “podiatrist” that we worked with was running the biggest and most disgusting scam I’ve ever seen. I’d never let anyone I care about see a podiatrist- go to an orthopedist if you need a doctor.

And asking people, who more than likely have been to doctors themselves and actually done trial and error to see which of the doctors’ treatments works best, isn’t necessarily a bad thing

Invest in a real pair not running shoes. Feaux running shoes at kohl’s don’t count.

Bombas

I love those. I have two pairs of Nike socks that I've been wearing for far too long, but I got a pair of Bombas for Christmas. I'm going to get more to finally replace the old ones.
