Doctor has me on a low carb diet to get blood sugar under control.

Yesterday out of habit while watching the game, I had three Jai Alai IPAs that were in the fridge.

Afterwards I realized they were 12g carbs… each.

Anyone have any IPA or other recommended beers that aren’t disasters in carbs? I know Mic Ultra has low carbs but it tastes like piss water and if that’s only choice, I’ll just have ti give up beer for now!

Carbs are the least of your worries. They’re 200 calories each

Another horrible downside of IPAs is the insane amount of estrogen that is created from the extra hops used during the brewing process.

Most IPAs are trash. Do yourself a favor and drink less. But when you do, enjoy a proper brew.

Yeah, I think that's where this is headed.

Maybe a low-cal, low-carb beer every once in a while.

Because changing everything at once isn't going to work long-term.

I've already cut out pastas, breads, anything fried, pancakes, biscuits, i.e. most things I enjoy eating.

So if I could find a drink here or there that works and isn't terrible, I will.

If I can't... then I just have to give it up.

Dude, you've been posting about losing weight for the better part of year and every one of those posts has some sort of qualifier or excuse.

Im not trying to be rude or a dick, but the reason your overweight is because of the shite you eat and drink now. Common sense would tell you to stop eating and drinking all that shite yet you just want to find easy ways out to keep doing it.

Decide right now to stop being a pussy, eat right, and work out. After like 10 days it's easy. You've lived thousands of them, you can suck it up for 10 days.

You can have anything you want here or there, I eat pizza, burgers, fries, drink beer.

But I don't eat pizza on Monday and biscuits on Tuesdays and drink beers on Wednesdays.

Like I said, stop making excuses and so something

I've stopped eating and drinking a lot of shite. And I have weight loss to prove it.

My blood sugar has dropped a bunch recently.

Like I said, if I can find a beer that I can occasionally have and it's not awful for me... I want to find it.

It's not an excuse. If I can't find it... I won't drink it. The end.

You can have whatever beer you want occasionally, as long as you know it's 200 calories a pop. If you have a Saturday a month where you have 3, you're fine.

What’s occasionally?

Beers in general aren’t good for your health, but if occasionally is a couple a month than just drink what you enjoy.

If occasionally is a couple every night then you’re out of luck regardless of which beer it is.

I rarely if ever drink at home by myself.

Sunday was first beer I had in a while.

More typically, might be a six pack a week... usually a couple at the pool, a couple while watching a game, etc.

24 a month is too much... especially high carb IPA. I'm thinking maybe a 6 pack of a low-cal, low-carb IPA and that would last me a month... no more than 1-2 at a time, 3 times a month now.

If you're going to drink 6 a month, drink whatever you want

I'm still learning about long-term impact of net carbs and all this moderation stuff.

The 12g was a shock to me, and after realizing I had 36g in one setting... made me take notice.

Doc is saying 50g or less per day of carbs is my target. So not true Atkins / Keto from my understanding... but a lot less than the "average" person takes in.

We did some discussion and estimate I was probably over 200g of carbs daily before this.
