Was fishing 2 weeks ago and like numerous times before the dorsal fin pricked my left index finger, it bled like times before and thought nothing of it.

2 days later I have a horrible pain and tip of finger is numb. Can’t stretch finger straight most of the day without terrible pain. A slight touch of area where it pricked me will have me almost in tears it hurts so bad.

Anyone have a clue what’s going on? Didn’t seem to hurt or went terribly deep when happened and continued to fish with zero problems. This was 2 weeks ago and zero relief. Thanks

It's infected. You need to go to the doctor or walk in clinic asap before it gets worst.

There also may be a small minute piece of dorsal fin that broke off when it punctured your skin that's causing the discomfort.

I never go to doctor and I wouldn't mess around with anything like that
Either foreign body or at the least infection risk needing some antibiotics

Go to the doctor. Don't frick around with possible infections.

I cut a trench in the end of my thumb off with a grinder flapper wheel back in January. When to the doc and they cleaned it up. They decided to just bandage it up since they didn't really have anything to pull together and stitch up. After it closed up it was still hurting and getting progressively worse. Didn't look infected. There was a piece of the wheel still in my finger that was causing continuous small infections or something like that.

The fact that it is painful with motion I would be concerned. Most likely tenosynovitis. I would go to the Dr immediately to have it checked out

Couple years back, I took a dorsal fin to the toe (flip-flops). It hurt for days, but no major swelling or redness. It would occasionally flare up with some pain in the months following, but again, no real redness or swelling. Then, almost a year later, out of nowhere, it swelled up and was red and hot. Doc cut out what ended up being a fairly large chunk of the fin tip, then read me the riot act about being stupid and potentially losing my toe or more.

Like everyone else said, don’t frick with it. Go to the doctor.

Did X-rays and had 2 separate objects in finger which I assume are pieces of the fin. Doc took them out after numbing finger.
