I play in a weekly soccer match and have noticed now that I am in my upper 30s that my knees have been feeling "stressed". I've avoided knee issues my whole life and have played a lot of soccer I would like to keep that going.

What are some exercises I can do to help avoid a serious knee injury in the future?

Thanks. Looking at it I'm assuming by strengthen they mean where I won't blow out every ligament - at least that's what I am hoping for.

Yes. The entire point of the program is to have bomb proof knees.

I’ve tried to incorporate some of his stuff into my programming for accessory type work.

How has that been?

Using the tib raises, Nordic progressions and knees over toes split squats have helped me I feel like. I need to get serious though as soon as I move in my new house.

Dont forget to change out cleats/running shoes every so often as well as what has already been said.

Strength training in general will also help strengthen the knees. When done with good form, squats and its variants help build stability in the knees. You don’t even have to train to build maximum strength like a powerlifter or get bigger. Just building a general foundation works wonders.

For specificity of the knees, it’s hard to beat Knees Over Toes Guy. He’s an encyclopedia of knee exercises. Really interesting stuff.

I’ve had past knee issues — PT was able to help a ton. “It all starts at the hips” if what everyone told me. My hips were weaker than weak which really surprised me.

Clamshells and straight leg raises for the win.

Look up David Grey Rehab. Took my son to multiple PTs with same hip stuff, didn’t help. Saw sports chiro that helped about 40%.
Had 2 zoom calls with David (he’s in Ireland) and he was back playing basketball pain free. Was quite amazing. That was over year and half ago

I do like the knees over toes guy as well.
