From here on out, today will forever be remembered as "The Day I Benched 315lbs".

Had my spotter there, who fricked it up two weeks ago when I tried. I hit a point on the way up where it kinda stopped going up, but I wasn't failing yet, and he grabbed it.

So today, I told him "don't touch it until it starts coming back down". And low and behold, I got it up. Now, full disclosure, there was no pause at the bottom like the pros do, but IDGAF! I benched three plates!!!!

Thanks! I've been trying to work toward breaking that 300 mark for about 18 months now. Had some set backs, but finally got it.

When I started tying to up my max on bench a year and a half or so ago, I could barely do 225. Maybe two reps. It's such a good feeling the first time you get it up! Keep grinding, man!!!!

I hit 3 plates in my mid 20s, now my 1RM might be 2 plates.

Getting old sucks...

I’ve hit 3 plates into my late 40s.

Next stop, 405! Not really, I’d probably have my shoulders explode going heavier than 350.

Well I have no desire to go higher than that, as I'm getting up there in age, and I don't want to risk any major injuries. So my current plan is to stop being so fat. I was 17% BF after the holidays, and I plan to get down to at least 13% and maintain that level or better without sacrificing much if any muscle mass.

You just have to stay active in chest workouts.

My max has yo-yoed from 275-320 the last 5 years and it solely depends on hitting chest and tris once per week.

Last week, I had 5 sets of 235x6 in a 12 minute window and struggled, because I concentrated on other stuff for a month getting ready for a big CF comp in Miami.

I got to 3 plates (first time in life) in my early 40s. Just take it nice a slow and progress on up.
