Not sure, but it helps spread it to everyone else.

Heat probably helps thin out the mucus and get the shite out of your body, I imagine. Not so much “sweating it out”.

Stay home and sit in your bathroom with the shower as hot as you can get it/steamy.

ETA: I miss those Vicks disks you could drop in the bottom of your shower. Those things were magical.

Contrast showers. Take your normal shower. Once you're done washing your arse, turn the water as cold as it will go. You want that water to be cold enough to cause a gasp reflex. Let the cold water run for 30 seconds to a minute. Then put the water as hot as you can stand for a minute.

Alternate between hot and cold.

Sounds crazy, but it helps with symptoms.

This. Steam rooms too. Bunch of sweat from a bunch of bare (sometimes)and sweaty asses. The sweat steams too.
Basically if you trust the cleanliness of your facility, give it a try.

Be careful not to dehydrate yourself. You are taking decongestants I assume. They will dry you out and of course so will a sauna.

Be smart about it, and give it a shot.

Cold is a virus. Nothing kills a virus

You can do things that help make you feel better. For me, steam room, flushing sinuses, ibuprofen and Claritin

It has to run its course. Sucks

This. In fact, I don't even waste my money on medicine because that doesn't help me with colds either. Just gotta deal with it for a few days.
