Do you prefer sumo or conventional style deadlift?

I started out sumo to protect my back more but I’ve switched to conventional because I feel I have more power that way. Anyone else feel the same or is this just a mental thing?

Sumo always feels weird to me, so I don't do it. Unless I'm doing a CrossFit type metcon that requires a sumo highpull.

I prefer Sumo, but I'm fairly tall and it's just a much more comfortable pull for me. doing conventional just feels all kinds of wrong when I go down to initiate the pull.

I prefer conventional but pull sumo

I only pull heavy sumo
Its purely a mental thing for me since I fricked up my back once during conventional lifts. It was 100% me having shite form and I've since corrected it, but they still make me nervous.

They absolutely count in USPA. I find they are harder to do so I don’t see why anyone says sumo style is cheating.

I prefer conventional.
Sumo is more technical and flexibility based and I'm taller with average flexibility. It's never felt comfortable.

I can’t pull as much weight with sumo, but I feel like I get a better leg workout with sumo than conventional.

I think you just trade one risk for another. Had some back issues for a bit pulling conventional, tried to switch to sumo and developed some hip issues, and just switched back to conventional and was more meticulous in my form. Now I pull conventional exclusively with no problems. To each their own imo.

I pull conventional. I just don’t see a real reason for me to switch. They will both make you strong when done correctly.

Hips too tight for sumo. Hate them anyway.
If I want less strain on my back, I’d rather just use a trap bar.

Pull higher numbers with sumo but only typically do conventional because it’s what is programmed at the CrossFit gym I go to.
