I’m way better at bar muscle ups than I am at rings. That shite kills me, I’m super slow on them. I also can’t kip well. I do them basically strict. I have no clue how people swing up into them.

I haven’t done a CrossFit workout in about a year. This thread made me do 18.1

Got 328 RX. Ttb and dumbbell clean/OH unbroken. I’m a borderline midget so the rowing took me the longest. Getting in and out took forever.

I’ll try to do 18.2 and 18.3 this week to see where I stand.

I haven’t gotten on the rings in probably a year......bar muscle ups are no problem. Did some warms ups. Surprised myself by doing a few ring MU’s without a problem.

Got to them in the WOD and couldn’t get a single one.

ETA: the rings also aggravate my shoulders, which is why I usually stick to bar. So my shoulders feel like shite this evening.

Pull ups slowed me down.

I got 119 Rx and I couldn't be happier with a shitty score Started out stringing together 1-2 doubles at a time but the closer I got to 100 I was hitting 6-7 at a time. Considering how terrible I was at just singles a few months back I'll gladly take this.

I only had about 45 seconds left to knock out the 20 OHS. Only missing the last rep was a miracle, not sure I've ever moved that fast with OHS.

18.3 - 228 Reps (9:01)

I got through the first set of DU with a 60 and 40 set at 1:30.
OHS were pretty tough for me at this weight... I think I finished around 6:15 or so.
2nd set of DU I did 40-20-20-16-3-1... finished at 9:01.
Went through the MU 1 at a time (I only had 1 miss) until I had less than 1 minute left then did a set of 2. Got 1 more in the last 10 seconds.

I think if I redid this one I could probably do more sets of 2 MU and maybe get through all 12. Unfortunately I won't have a chance to redo it.

21 Rx DLs to submit then dropping to scaled. Gonna have to scale the (scaled) hand release pushups to knee push ups and even then I am gonna struggle. That plus bear crawls I am likely to hit the time cap.

I could barely do 225 Wednesday 27 times in our EMOM so all scaled for me. No idea if I do bear crawl correctly. Going to try to not double scale the push ups.

Last time I did Diane I did the first round unbroken @185. I will have to break up the 21 but hopefully no more than twice

I’ll try this one scaled. May wait until Sunday that way I’ll be able to actually run on Saturday am.

I’ll do this Rx and hopefully finish around 5 min and then work on the 315lb deadlifts and maybe get some handstand walks in.

That is such a retarded workout

I'm just going to do scaled. Scaled looks fun.

No reason to even attempt RX IMO

I'm in the same boat as you, I just have no idea how fried my posterior chain will be at that point though.

I thought the last one was much more retarded. If I were not so disproportionately weak at DL, I would give Rx a go. I've never tried those handstand deal with the leg kicking. Did you see the guys doing it last night? Their system for foot height is flawed. IMHO

I've thought the workouts have been top notch this open. I haven't done my best, but so far this has been one of the best group of workouts.

If I were better at this, I might agree, but some of the stuff included excludes such a huge group of people. Maybe it's just our place(And this is my first open) but we never do many of these things. Most of us can't. The scaled version have been great though.

I get your view point, but TBH, as much as crossfit claims, the open isn't really for the recreational crossfitters like us. It's to find who are the best in the world to move on in a competition.

I've been doing crossfit for over 3 years now, so some of these movements are starting to become attainable for me. Someone in their first year probably shouldn't be able to do everything RX yet, and that's okay! Set your goals where you fall short on this years open to be able to do them next year.

I scaled everything in 2016. I was 40lbs heavier then as well. I've enjoyed the workouts for this year's open. I'm excited to see what I can do with Diane/Diane (+). The last time I did Diane was in Nov 2016 in 7:16. I know I've gained strength and ability in HSPU and walks. I hope to get to the first set of 50' walks.
