Yeah I tried the salted caramel a couple of weeks ago. It's better than other protein ice creams but something was missing. The best way I can think to describe it is like sex with a condom. It's good, but it could be better.

I actually really like them.

Not quite protein dense enough be a consistent meal replacement (it aint easy/quick to eat that whole pint for only 30 g protein) but a great snack/treat.

Strawberry is really good. Chocolate not bad either. Vanilla pretty meh.

Chocolate is pretty good. I like it for a quick guilt free dessert.

Coffee was terrible IMO. Not sure why tf my wife bought it versus strawberry.

Guilt free dessert? Have you actually looked at the nutritional info?

Huh?

I mean....40 g carbs from mostly sugar certainly isn't great, but....why's it have to be all or nothing?

300 calories in a pint. 33 g protein. no added sugar. 7 g of fat.

Compare that to a pint of actual ice cream...

700 calories. 14 g protein. 36 g fat. 83 g carbs completely from sugar/added sugar.

If you're calling it dessert it's a pretty damn good option compared to alternatives. You have someone eating a pint of blue bell a day and switch them over to a pint of blue bell pro that's a pretty big difference for them still being able to get their sweet tooth ice cream fix in at the end of the day.

Not to mention for most people it's probably more like only a third of the pint per helping I'd say yeh....that's a pretty guilt free dessert.

Yea, the macros are pretty fantastic for a dessert. Comparing to some other low calorie, high protein options (chocolate):

Because thats what guilt free is. 40 g of carbs in a serving is certainly not guilt free, man.
A better alternative than normal ice cream with the added bonus of extra protein? Sure. But, certainly nothing I'd ballpark as a guilt free food item.
BTW, I tried the strawberry and caramel and they were decent.

25-27g of carbs per serving technically. I'd call a ~100 calorie dessert with ~27g carbs (6 g fiber, 12g sugar/sugar alcohol), 11g protein, and 2 g of fat pretty damn guilt free. Even if you overindulge and eat the whole pint, you've not really blown anything completely out of the water, thus being guilt free.

ETA: Just because it was a kind of funny comparison (obviously i'm not saying the ice cream is comparable to an apple as far as how healthy it is)

Look up the Ninja Creami thread on making protein ice cream. You know exactly what goes into it (grass fed milk, cream, etc.)

Make a bunch of vanilla or chocolate base at once, and then you can do the final mix ins on the fly after it freezes.

I guess agree to disagree.

Unless you're training for a bodybuilding comp, having a serving of that even every night (12 g carbs from sugar, 6 g from fiber) isn't going to do anything negative for you. I think it is objectively guilt free. Healthy fats, healthy protein, some healthy carbs. And some sugar carbs for added umph to fuel your workout better the next day. And it satiates you to keep you from eating Oreos or Fritos or beer instead.

So am I putting down a pint of that in a day to replace my shake? Nah. But as a 'guilt free' dessert that actually satisfies cravings? Yeh - show me a better alternative.

I use the chocolate in my morning protein shakes
1/3 of the pint
2 scoops of premier chocolate
1 scoop of peanut butter powder
8oz of 2% Milk
1 whole Banana
And fill the rest of container with ICE

To me other than being harder to scoop out it tastes exactly the same as regular blue bell

yeah I'd agree this type of product just fits in a weird space

I guess if you're someone that wants to eat ice cream consistently or just enjoys some sort of night sweet often, this is a good alternative

but if I'm regularly dieting and exercising and want to have an actual dessert, I'd rather just opt for the real thing

Mix it with Fair Life protein drink to make a wonderful milkshake. yes it's good and the protein to calorie ratio is good.
