Been trying to talk my dad into trying Keto. He really needs to lose some lbs, and as much as he loves meat, you’d think he’d be willing to try Keto. But I can’t convince him and was hoping maybe a good doc could.

I know he watched the “meat is bad” Netflix doc with Arnold and was somewhat persuaded. He’s “replacing” lunch with a pea protein shake. I watched him make it the other day, and it had to have at least 100g of sugar in it. Tia

I’m familiar with Dom and his work (but thanks for this, cause I’ll be sure to watch the whole thing later). I am looking for something more dumbed down for the layman.

There was one on Netflix for a time, "Magic Pill". In true documentary fashion it goes a bit above and beyond and makes bold claims that border on untrue, but it will woo many people into keto.

vinnie tortorich has a nice documentary out on Prime. I don't remember if it was keto specific though.

FAT: A Documentary

Bell brothers "war on carbs" is out there...but I haven't seen that one.

The War on Carbs doc still hasn’t been released

I love those guys and they know their shite, but using them as who you want to promote keto or carnivore diet is extremely dishonest.

Mark looks that way bc he is on steroids and openly admits it.

Shows you how much I pay attention. He wanted info on keto, that is/will be a doc on keto. I wasn't stating "OMG look at these guys" type shite comment.

And no shite Mark is on steroids, he talks about it openly. Any dumbass that thinks otherwise is ... that wasn't a dishonest comment.

Calorie Defect, dont worry about trying to do a diet. Just count calories and burn more calories than you intake. It IS actually science.

Needs a bit tweaking tbh. It isn’t an exact science.

But, I don’t know of another way to accurately formulate energy intake

Which he can do via keto if he so chooses - that's applying the science.

CICO isn't simply relegated to just counting calories or counting macros - CICO applies to whatever style of dieting you prefer. That means if you achieve a calorie deficit most easily/naturally via keto or via vegan, who the hell am I to judge you for it?

Great suggestion, boomer. Record levels of obesity is showing that this straightforward mentality is clearly working.

Where did I say that they are doing so?

The only retarded thing is your incorrect interpretation of my statement (well, in addition to the asinine assumption that the thing that will help the OP's father is just to tell him to eat a caloric deficit).

You said alluded that we have a record level of obesity due to a straightforward mentality of all you have to do is eat in a caloric deficit to lose weight.

The only damn thing you have to do to lose weight is eat in a caloric deficit. That's a fact. Whatever way you chose to go about that doesn't matter. For many keto is amazing, for many it's not.

But to suggest someone is wrong and call someone a boomer for simply saying eat in a deficit to lose weight is retarded.

Support the OP if he wants his father to do keto, but don't do the opposite if they suggest an alternative way so long as both work through the same methods.

True, but Mo was right in that my 68 year old dad I’m sure already knows that, but here he is. I don’t think I’m going to get him to be counting macros or putting in a whole lot of effort to understand the science of it. I figure Keto will lower his caloric intake significantly. He eats nothing but meat and processed carbs, so switching the process carbs for good, fresh, low(er) cal vegetables could only help.

And my mom was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes a few years ago, so she’s used to cutting carbs. She wants to try Keto, and I’m starting June 1st, so I thought it’d be nice if we cooked for each other a couple of times a week.

Anyhoo, I’m 42, and my Dad still thinks I don’t know shite ( ), so I was hoping a good doc would get a better response. Thanks for all the help, gentlemen.

Thats what he clearly meant. Fat people know what it takes to not be fat yet more and more Americans keep getting bigger and bigger.
