I used to love my 5:15 workouts but once my daughter was born I felt bad about leaving my wife with her in the mornings. So I just take my hour or so lunch break and go workout.

Smartest thing I've ever done is spend the money and build a nice gym in my garage. Doesn't matter what time I go, it's never crowded

I'm thinking about skipping the PR Party and just start BF2 tomorrow.

What’s everyone running next?
Last year I slacked off too much between squatober and deadcember.

Yea, the garage gym has been a godsend for me too. Worth the upfront cost, will save in the long run

I don't have safety bars in my garage or enough weights for Squatober so I'm glad I have a gym membership now.

I plan to run Filling out the Hoodie. One of my favorite PPSA programs.

I finally installed the safety straps in the cage last night. Haven’t gone heavy enough to need them prior to then. I’m likely starting that program next week as well

Some of those people are nice looking ladies though.

Squatober 2023 is in the books! I've enjoyed this program the past three years, but this year has been my favorite programming. Get to throw the 2023 shirt on for Trick or Treating tonight.

I hit my PR goal of 325 (107%) up from 315 last year. I'll take it. I skipped the 105% attempt (which still would have been a PR) because the weight was moving pretty good and I didn't want fatigue to keep me from hitting the goal weight.

Starting tomorrow, I'm going directly into PPSA The Oak Tree. I don't know if it's crazy or not, but I'm planning to run the 20 days through without rest days. We leave for a Thanksgiving road trip on the 20th, so I'll use that as a recovery week before coming back and running as few random workouts leading into Deadcember.

I had never physically attempted anything greater than 93%, so the rest was lagniappe.

Got to 107%.

Hit 430. Wasn’t pretty. Probably should have done 2 scoops of pre. Felt sluggish the whole time.

Thank you for this comment!

It gave me the confidence to go to increase my 1RM to 353lbs in my garage with the use of the safety bars. Only got my cage a few months ago just before I found PPSA, and used the max rep calculator instead of a genuine 1RM

Well, that's 2023 Squatober in the books. While at work today, I binded the month's plan and notes to for a reference point for the next time

That's what a hell of an awesome ride it has been. Enjoyed being at a calorie maintenance level for five weeks

Now for a few deload sessions this week before getting into S&J next week on a slight deficit for our summer

Thanks everyone for all of your comments, I have read them all a few times and found them helpful on this wild journey we all shared

Squatober 23 in the books for me. Started the month with a max of 315. Ran a TM of 95% and ended with my max today at 325. Not close to the numbers already thrown around and I’m sure will get thrown around but I’m happy with a 10 pound increase in a month!

As always love this month and always reading comments and interacting. Looking forward to seeing everyone’s results later

Gonna take the week off until Saturday and do a light full body workout before I either start an upper body focused workout or DB Strength

Got it wrapped up this morning. Hit my goal of 300+ with 305. Really wanted 315, but it wasn't happening, tried twice. Still extremely happy with the results. Decent improvement from my 255 in March.

Onwards and upwards!

Just worked up to 315lbs.

I had been using 230-240lbs as my training max this year after not squatting for the majority of 2023 due to a knee injury.

Shout out to the ATG Slant Board for helping me out - my ankle and hip mobility are shite. All my reps this Squatober were done on this slant board. It was the first time I was able to squat without pain in my hips.

---

Last year I used 245lbs as my training max and was able to get up to 300lbs. But due to ankle mobility I definitely was not getting as much depth as I can now.
