I was getting pretty excited for this thing to get kicked off this morning while I was doing my squats.

I'm just not sure what to put my max at because I haven't maxed since high school. I'm thinking about just picking in the 330 range since that's more than I can rep. Does that sound good enough?

I’ll leave it to the experts to answer that. I just know you’re supposed to pick a weight that you can hit on the best of days and the absolute worst of days.

In your expertise is there any type of brace you’d recommend for elbow tendinitis while lifting or tennis/pickleball? Elbow feeling a little
better each day, but still not great.

Gonna try and get under the bar today and get these knees bending.

Take 330 and multiply by 90%. That'll be your training max. The guy who rights the program recommends doing that.

So 330 * .9 = 297 so use 300 to calculate your weight for each set.

Any counter force brace will help give you some relief. Just put it a little further down your forearm than where it hurts to take some pressure off. Use that topical gel too.

Question for you Squatober veterans..

Can the 30 minute recovery walk happen anytime throughout the day or is it supposed to happen soon after the workout? Also, how long is a typical training session? I'm going to have to seriously budget my time so I can hit every workout on time. Or maybe I'm overthinking it already.

Budget an hour/hour 30 for the workout alone. Last year there was no way I could get an extra 30 min walk in after. I would have been in the gym for almost 2 hours.

Some workouts are longer, hour 15 or so. Some go buy pretty quick, about 50 minutes. Just depends.

I admittedly didn't do the walks last year. I'm going to try to fit them in either on my lunch break or after the kids go to bed this year.

And I'd say 1:15 to 1:30 for most workouts if you follow the recommended rest times and throw in a couple more warmup sets for your main lefts of the day. I can't just jump in with 70%, etc, without a couple warmup sets first.

I actually find that walking later in the day - maybe a few hours later - is best for me. I usually lift around 1pm or so and do my walk sometime after I eat.

This morning I woke up with some nice pain in my left heel and it made walking around a chore. I did get in about 21k steps yesterday so maybe that flared it up a bit but I am still going to power through squatober.

I remember reading the Squatober thread a couple years ago and being intimidated. Especially the deadlifts, I’d never done them before. Now I’m getting close to 3 plates. Feels good.
