I'm going to use this as my opportunity to start doing AM workouts before leaving for work - it will be rough as I'm usually on the road by 6am. Might have to occasionally save the cardio for evenings

Hopefully by the end of the month it will be routine
Definitely no way I could train 5 days a week at night likely I usually do - too much stuff going on this month

Took it easy this morning just to stay loose. It was mid-60s, so I drank a cup of coffee and went on a 4 mile walk with my weighted vest. Feeling great and ready to kick it off tomorrow.

Looked at the workout for tomorrow. This is my first year doing this so looking forward to it! Adding this as a second workout to my normal workout routine.

Squatober is officially underway in my garage!

Had to do a quiet Ric Flair whooooo.

Not a bad first workout. Knocked it out in 45 minutes. Of course, my old arse also had about 20 minutes of stretching and warmups first.

I subbed concentration curls in for chins. Not going to hurt my elbow this year.

My wife is doing it this year too

We both woke up to get at it this morning. I decided I didn't want to change weights that much and went for an easy 3.5 mile run instead. I'll hit the workout during lunch.

That was a good one this morning. Sweat was dripping during the deadlifts.

Not conducive to getting enough cardio in but still managed 15 minutes on the stair master.

First AM workout in a while so decided to save the cardio portion for this evening - I get so anxious about completing in time for leaving for work

Went lighter on the DB RDLs as I haven't done those in a while and they can make me unreasonably sore, trying to save myself here
Overall very fun - love the dead, chin, row combos

I got my wife doing it this year too. We shall see how long that goes.

She wasn't sure of any of her %s and took it easy this morning. I am ready for day 1!

Day 1 went well. I'm not comfortable with a 5 jumping jack warmup, so I added 3x5 empty bar squat, OHP, row, and RDL in addition to some stretching. With all that, it took me 90 min to fully complete everything. I'd say deadlifts were the easiest followed closely by squats. Last set of curls was the weak spot as the burnout was setting in by that point.

Current TMs are Squat 315, Bench 230, Dead 360. Hoping these are conservative numbers as I dropped my TMs last month. After steady TM increases over a year, I had some rough days and just felt completely beat up.

Last Squatober I used 255/200/305.

I’m going in shortly for day 1! My son moved out so my wife has started lifting with me. She had never done barbell work until running “brace yourself, it’s coming” with me in August/September. She’s probably going to tap out during Squatober, but she is hella stubborn.

Haven’t posted here in a long while; got a good bit fatter (back up to 220) but also stronger (TMs set at 335/405/435). Have continued to run PPSA programs nonstop the last year. Grip and worry of back limits deadlifts still.

If she made it thru Brace Yourself, she can handle Squatober. I ran Brace Yourself as 2on/1off and felt it was more difficult than Squatober last year.

Jose what 1RM are you using for the squats?

I'm using my 1RM from last squatober which is 430. I'm going to start at 90% for now, so I'll be 387. I may go up depending on the first couple of weeks go.

What are you using?

I just finished day 1 and was checking IG for day 2 when it came up. With my head in my phone. I accidentally walked into the women's locker room...

On my hurried walk out, a gym regular was laughing her arse off at me. Damn you PPSA!

Very excited to slam down my 4x4 I brought for lunch

Damn. I haven't eaten yet, but I did slam a big glass of OJ with my creatine this morning.

It's probably a good time to go find some lunch.

DrDenim will be slamming a pumpkin pie later.
