Did the water fast kill OP?

Started doing a 24hr fast on Mondays. It's not that hard. Eat dinner on Sunday and then nothing until dinner on Monday.

Damn. I guess you're right that's technically a 24 hour fast.
My brain for whatever reason sees "24 hour fast" as skipping an entire calendar day, which I realize is incorrect.
Simply not eating until dinner for 1 day is what I think of as basic ole OMAD, or "I was too busy to eat lunch". Not all that unusual for me, but I'd never have thought of it as a 24 hour fast.

I'm currently at 48 hrs of a planned 72-86 hr fast.
40,000 volts Electrolytes in my water.
Today I started with heated Bone Broth in the morning and will do again this evening.
Having a touch of stomach achiness and diarrhea. I had black espresso yesterday around hr 30 and feel like that messed with me.
Brain fog and lethargy are mostly gone.
I started prepping Sunday with Low/Zero carb, and began the fast Monday around 10:30a.
ETA: I've come to realize this is 95% mental...

On day 3, around 64 hours into it, give or take. Mainly bone broth, water, Italian Mineral Water, black coffee… the usual. Also keeping a small portion of pink Himalayan sea salt at my desk.
My wife got ginger and turmeric bone broth from Costco for me… it contains organic chicken bone broth, organic ginger, organic turmeric, sea salt. Not bad at all.
Thinking I will break fast Friday night, which would be Sunday - Friday night, which was not my original goal. Had hoped for 3 days but feeling good.
The main issue has been REMEMBERING that I’m fasting. Sometimes in auto pilot you just wanna grab and snack, not even thinking about it.

Well done and it’s a great way to cleanse the body and regroup!

IMO, it's the easiest way to get someone to do a 24 hour fast. I read Eat Stop Eat back in the day and was introduced to the idea there. Adding in the 8 hour sleep time makes a 24 hour fast much more manageable for most people.

Day 2 is the worst. Halfway through Day 3 you’ll have brain fog and get into a zone that pushes you through Day 4. Day 5 is intense because you’re right at the finish. You got this! Drink a broth to break your fast, anything heavy and your stomach will regret it.

My church is doing a period of fasting this month. Im about 42 hours into a fast but im about to eat. I dry fasted for 24 hours of that and I liked it. I may start incorporating that more often

Do any of y'all deal with headaches when you fast? Like really bad headaches? Every time I've tried, about 24 hours in I start to get a headache that eventually turns crippling. If I wanted to continue, I'd basically have to lie in bed in a dark room for the remainder of the fast, but since I can't because of life, I end the fast.

Yes, dont neglect your salt. It helps

On day 5. Today is better than yesterday.

With all of the electrolyte tabs available now, it is a little easier to get salt in while just drinking water. Just have to find some that are low/no calories and no sugars. Green tea also helps with a little bit of caffeine to ward off some headache issues.
I'm in a group now that is tracking calories, exercise, sleep habits etc and they are suggesting a 36 hour fast every weekend. Basically eat dinner on Saturday night and nothing but liquids until Monday morning. I've done 18 and 24 hours the last two weekends, and looking to do all 36 this weekend.

You guys inspired me... 37 hours in and feeling good. Second time doing a 72 hour but if I'm feeling good Wednesday afternoon I might push it into Thursday.

Honest question - what are the benefits of doing something like this? Aside from weight loss, as that seems like an obvious one.

Currently about 62 hours into a "100 hour" fast. I may take it to 112+/- and eat Friday morning as opposed to late tomorrow night.
Saw a random Instagram reel about the benefits, remembered this thread, did a little research and thought what the hell. Primarily, I just wanted to see if I could do it. Longest previous "fast" was 24 hours before getting a colonoscopy. I was prepared to punch-out if I thought I needed to after 24/48/72 hours, but have now decided I'm going the 100 hour distance and maybe beyond.
My experience for those interested:
1. I knew I wanted to do a fast, but was trying to optimize timing and wasn't really sure when I was going to start. So I didn't really properly "prepare" specifically for the fast, but ate pretty normally through Sunday afternoon, when I decided this was the week.
2. I have been limiting myself to black coffee in a.m., water with 0 sugar electrolytes a few times a day, and had some salt water last night. I have bone broth available but haven't felt the need to go there.
3. Was the hungriest on Day 1, but not terrible.
4. Day 2 may have been the worst, as I had to go to a work lunch and watch other people eat, so that was tempting, but I was less hungry than I was on Day 1. Also, walking through the Fresh Market prepared food section and cooking for my kids while not eating has been somewhat of a challenge.
5. It's Day 3 now, and haven't really been hungry. There's that little voice saying "feed me," but no real discomfort due to hunger.
6. I haven't had any headaches, "brain fog," or been irritable. Overall, I'm feeling good, sleeping well, and well energized.
7. Didn't weigh myself Sunday morning or Sunday night, but lately I've been hovering around 249/250 at 6'4". This morning I was down to 242, which I attribute mostly to water weight. Not really doing this for results on the scale.

Doesn't brother essentially break the fast? Its calories.

How do you know you have a genetic predisposition for that?

If you do fail on the straight up water fast, you can try a 3 day egg fast. Those really help me reset.
I have bad anxiety and i'm trying different natural remedies to combat it. Does the egg fast render similar results as a water fast as far as feeling good goes?

Yep. It's easy to do a 24hr fast. I moved mine to Thursdays now. Run 6-8 miles Thursday night before I finally get to eat.
