I don’t do it. I take the pencil. Am I wrong for this? Main reason I don’t return it is there’s nothing worse than when you grab a worn down nubby used pencil and you’re trying to keep score with it all round. What’s the etiquette here?

We order 20,000 at a time, go ahead, it's a nice souvenir especially if you have a nice round.

It’s a nice souvenir if the name of the course is printed on it. I am so frustrated with courses (even some nice ones) that have stopped printing their names on pencils. I have even seen one course that has stopped printing their name on pencils, but they spend the money on pencils with erasers.

I typically leave it on the cart, I have enough stuff in my bag…

I walk and bring my own pencils.

When I have to ride, I leave the pencil on the cart. I have about 10 pencils in my bag.

When I had an office, I had a golf pencil display on the wall.

I arranged by state, then from my favorite to least favorite course.

I find, for some reason, I end up with lower scores when I keep score in my head. ;)

I keep them if it’s a new course. I collect pencils and put them in something like this

Doesn’t matter if it’s a goat track or a par 3 course. I wish I wouldve started sooner because I’m missing some good courses I played in my younger days

ETA: not my collection in the pic I pulled it off google.

I don't keep score so the pencil is obsolete

Seriously? Take a few extra scorecards, as well. You might even see some stray golf balls that you can snag.

Was back in the office today so here’s my actual pencil collection.

Not near as elite as the google image I found and still have a lot to add. Hate I’m missing Philly Cricket Club and I forgot to get The Preserve and Grand Bear last year when I played

I was gonna say the etiquette here is to not steal from the course. But if Burky ok's it then by all means help yourself. Klepto.

You seriously would consider taking a course pencil as stealing? The one that is going to get thrown away after one or two uses?

Hell my course has a box of them along with tees and ball markers for you to take at the first tee box.

Nah I'm just kidding. Sorta...lol.

I look at it like this - does it belong to you or the course? Who bought it? The course. So it's not mine. Therefore I'm not gonna take it because that's stealing. But it is just a pencil...a consumable. If you collect them, go ahead man. Not a big deal at all.

Would I do it? No. It's there for me to USE to keep my score. Plus, every course has them. Why would I need to take them? But if you want it, help yourself. I don't care.

Quite the contrarian take. You feel the same way about scorecards, tees and ball markers?
