My dad got charged with criminal trespassing at LSU GC by 4 cops. He turns 69 in a couple weeks. He wanted to work on shots out of wet turf on NYE. He F’dA and FO.

Anyone ever gotten in trouble for this before?

They probably have signs posted everywhere that says you will get charged with trespassing. I’m sure they deal with it alot being so close to lsu.
I don’t think your dad would have messed up the course but I can certainly understand why maintenance wouldn’t want people on the course.
Maybe they have had it torn up quite a few times by drunk kids

Overkill by the PD, but your dad should know that a course isn’t his own practice facility he can go to when it’s closed

^with the dean’s wife?

Is his name Mitch Cumstein?

He knew putting at night was wrong. Guess he did not learn before.

It's overkill for sure but he should know better.

I think it would be okay if you lived on the course and you were hitting a few shots into the green from your back yard.

But LSU is fenced off and he would have had to walk past the closed pro shop. Pretty trashy.

I think we played Webb one time on either thanksgiving or Christmas when’ I was in high school. We just walked out there and played a few holes.

Normally any holiday that BREC is closed I consider free golf day. Most of the time I am not the only one out there.

Jeez. Bad move on his part probably but that’s like being charged for DWI while having beers on the course driving a golf cart. Punishment doesn’t fit the crime here. Your dad should wear his golf shoes to court though for sure. Take the spikes out and go complete Tin Cup!

I just feel like 500 yards to the South would be a better use of police efforts.

It is never ok to play on a closed golf course unless they specifically announce it. It is amazing how people think it is a golf course so now we will steal golf and trespass and it is perfectly fine.

So all those golfers(including me) playing on a closed course during covid should have been arrested? Or is BREC courses ok?

As I said, if the course approves of it, then that is fine. BREC had no problem with it at that time, obviously. Guy hitting balls for "wet" practice? lol. Not comparable.

My question to anyone is why is it ok to do as you please with other people's property and business as long as it is a golf course? And here is the ultimate thing with golf courses, it isn't me. I am ok doing it. It is everyone else that should follow laws and rules.

Lol you’re being a little intense. I don’t think anyone is saying he should have done it or isn’t in the wrong. Again, the punishment doesn’t fit the crime here lol.

A little ridiculous both ways

1 cop walking out to him and politely asking him to leave is the right move. Shouldn’t have been 4 cops and charging him is a little overkill imo

He should not be out there just hitting shot after shot on wet ground. I imagine he’s taking divots and now the maintenance crew will have to spend time fixing that and obviously he didn’t pay for access so it’s completely out of pocket for the course. We know how razor thin the margins are for golf courses and stuff like this doesn’t help.
