The WITB thread got me thinking - I’m redoing my bag right now, and am considering giving up a longer club for another wedge. I hit a pw about 120-125, 52 degree 100, and 56 degree 85-90. I’ve never carried anything higher than a 56.

I could add a lob wedge but not sure how much I’d use it - do you use yours on 40-60 yard shots or more around the green?

I’m currently setup for 50/54/60. I use my 60 a ton around the green. Great for raised greens especially. I never use it for a full swing. Mostly just inside 60.

Love my 60. Full swing 80 yds and under, flops, bunkers, etc. Go to Ebay or Watts and buy a used one and practice with it, tendency is to get a little scoopy with it and hit short pop ups. Keep wrists firm through impact on full shots.

I go 50, 54, 58. I use 58 around raised greens, short sides and over bunkers. I'll also use it from 60-70 to a front pin.

I gave up a 5i for an extra wedge, because I regularly play on shorter courses. However, I am ordering that 5i, because when I go play somewhere with normal Length, I’m needing it. I’m not sure which wedge I’ll drop though.

This is my set up. The 50 is matched to my set, so I’ll use it for full swings up to 110. 54 and 58 are Hogan TK wedges. Mostly use those for less than full swings, pitches, chips and bunkers.

Why not go 54/58? That would cover the area of the 52/56.

IMO 60 degrees are a disaster waiting to happen. I play 54/58 and only use the 58 out of the bunker. Hardly ever around the green. If I am inside 70 yards I will take a knock down 54 (spin control) over a nuked 58.

I only use mine around the green or going over something. It's about a full 95-100 but I'm more comfortable with my 56 from there and in.

I have a 50/54/60 set up. I use my 60 for anything 100 yards and in. Bunkers, chips, pitches, etc. Probably the most used club in my bag.

I love my 60 degree. It is my primary club around the green, just has a great feel to me. It is really helpful on short chips over a bunker or on a raised green. It is my primary short game club unless I need to do something with a shot.

Because I got a new 56 for Christmas

But really, yeah I wouldn't have minded that set up. Just trying to decide if I should add a hybrid between the 3i and 3w, or add a lofty wedge. It would definitely be helpful on some short chips over a bunker, I just want to make sure I'll use it more than once a round. I've always used a 56 for all shots 80 yards and in, but maybe I'd find it useful for those shots as well.

Thanks all, I've seen some decent used ones on Ebay for like $65, I'll pick one up and mess around with it.

Take a look at Harry Taylor wedges. You can get them brand new for $65. I love mine.

Recently had my 58 degree titlest vokey wedge not returned to the clubhouse after I left it on the green. So my new setup after getting fitted for some new wedges is going to be PW 42, GW 48, vokey wedge 52 (all titleist), then edel 56 and 60 wedges. I had room for an extra club.

I use to only use my 56 until a buddy that is a pro gave me his 60, only about a year old. I barely use my 56 anymore . All about feel though, what you have comfort hitting.

My 60 degree is money for full swing 100 yd. I use it primarily around the green as well unless I can play a bump and run.

If the course is saturated though (lately) I leave it in the bag as I have a tendency to chunk it when the ground is wet.

I have a 52-56-60 set up. I use my 60 all the time. Bunkers, around the greens, and out to 60-70 yards.

Same.

Go to club for pitches to 50-70 yard shots. I very rarely hit a "full" shot with it because it'll go straight up and with any moisture in the greens it spins too much. It probably maxes out at about 90 yards but I try to hit knock down 52/56 for that shot in most cases.

They are very useful and easy to use. If you have a spot in the bag, I recommend getting one.

I used to have PW, 54, 58. When I lived in Denver. Moved back east and went 52, 56, 60. I could muscle my 54 at altitude more than at sea level. Also I didnt find myself going for as many par 5s at sea level. So I took a club out of the top of my bag and added a wedge.

I limit my60 to deep bunkers and short side shots.

I prefer my 56 for most pitches.

I've used the 60 for most shots inside 75 yards since I started playing golf. Downside is I don't have good touch on bump shots with longer clubs, upside is I've gotten to where I can make most shots with the 60 where someone else might prefer a 9 or PW. Gets me in trouble on soft, wet ground sometimes when it's softer than it looks, but still my go to.
